Re: Lords of the Uberdark
I might try it when I get back home. Looks kinda cool, in my rating,
1. Terraria, cause it's actually POSSIBLE to play online for free
2. Mine craft, because I can only sp on my pirated but it's pretty cool
3. Probably my first impression of this game lords of the uberdark
EDIT Btw the only thing he needs is weapons and when night comes to get raped by monsters then it'll be all good, all good, all good in the hood.

Re: Lords of the Uberdark
Sorry for necro, but in case you didn't know, the public alpha went live today for those who contributed 10$ to him. game is still very barebones, not much there besides mining (pickaxe is the only available tool) and very rudimentary building. Still though, dat art style makes me wild and the creator it is planning to add some RTS elements as the game, mostly resource management and base building, plus the FPS combat we know and love. He recently reached his goal of $20,000 (which is why the alpha was released), and is working on it full time now. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one, if he can make building less awkward, create some sort of multiplayer, and implement some crafting/ tools, this game could be something special.
his kickstart profile is here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/901026204/lords-of-uberdark-3d-voxel-based-mining-building-g
Download the alpha if you didn't donate (you didn't get this from me ) http://www.lordsofuberdark.com/UberdarkAlpha34-will-go-poof-soon.zip

Add monsters, better building, more tools, and just overall challenge and I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Re: Lords of the Uberdark
Lords of the complete absence of light. (Uber has a different meaning in German, actually...)
Also, anyone knows if I would get all the future versions of this if I bought the Alpha?
EDIT: Ok, you DO get future versions... Sadly, I can't seem to buy the alpha any more... >.>

Re: Lords of the Uberdark
Actually no, über has the exact same meaning as in English since it's a loanword. It means, depending on context, "over", "above" or "super(ior to)". Most internationally well known example: Nietzsche's Übermensch. The term literally translates to "Superior to Human" and was meant to symbolize a next stage in human (social) evolution/humanity's ultimate goal. Take for example Superman (holy direct translation batman!) which major character design is that he IS superior to "normal" humans, be it physical prowess, mental capacity or moral superiority (always being the good guy and saving folks no matter what) and thus is what "wicked" humans should strife to become one day. What you are probably referring to is Hitler's interpretation of the term by implying that the Aryan race already WERE these next generation of humans and that they just had the "right" to lord over the rest. Which is in direct contrast with the "morally superior" part that makes Superman the perfect example.Pete wrote:Uber has a different meaning in German, actually..

Re: Lords of the Uberdark
Ubermensch is translated to "super man" in my book.
I just remembered... The other uber meaning wasn't in German, it was in Spanish. >_>
So yeah... sorry for that shit. :3
