Zan's Minimap

Is kicking my ass. I can't get it to work. Started fresh with a new .jar this morning. This was my procedure:

1) Download Zan's Minimap and the ModLoader.
2) Open minecraft.jar with 7Zip
3) Open ModLoader with 7Zip.
4) Drag all files in ModLoader zip into minecraft.jar
5) Open Minimap with 7Zip.
6) Drag all files in Minimap zip into minecraft.jar.
7) Close everything.
Start Minecraft.

All I got was a black window after logging in. Mojang logo didn't appear or anything. What the hell am I doing wrong?

You're not forgetting to delete the META-INF folder in the JAR right?

I think you also need to delete the folder that I dont have in my mc.jar so i cant remember whats its called lol

No, that folder is long gone. Just forgot to put the deletion in my "steps".

Are you dragging all files/folders in or only the class files?

i tried this, i dl'd zan097 (the mod i think) then installed it with TFC's mod manager and it didnt do shit.

Hmmm, yes, the 1.4 versions would be helpful. THIS is what I did:

Yeah you would need to use the 1.4_01 versions. The 1.5 versions don't work because of LOLCODEOBFUSCIATION which is why everything needs to be updated whenever a new update comes out.

My friend had the same problem. The black screen but not with the Minimap but with better chat. I did try to fix it. These were MY steps. Also a note, it worked perfectly on my computer.

1. Download the right modloader, lastest McPatcher and the right Better Chat version.
2. Apply patch to the NEW downloaded clean minecraft.jar
3. Install the ModLoader and, after that the Better Chat.
4. Start Minecraft
5. Black Screen and the program does not respond.

So I do the same except for the patching. Did u patch it to? Cuz I seriously couldn't get it to work properly......

you need to delete the meta-inf folder inside the jar.

Dude I'm pretty sure Zan's minimap is an outdated mod.....like very outdated its for Beta 1.2_02 so its obvious why it doesn't work.... However if your looking for a good mod try the planes mod, it doesn't ruin the game like SDK's Guns and it suits the games environment well, heres the link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Zan's worked for me in 1.4.

I think the confusion is Zan no longer maintains it.
I will find out what the definitive status is while writing the wiki page.

I will look into planes mod.

Once the OS survey is done (I will give it a few days, mods please sticky?) i will do another poll for what mods I should be supporting for every version.

When you patch it with MC Patcher the META-INF automacticly gets deleted...... and I checked it, it's gone.
