    Power Supply died D:

Post by Giygas on 2011-03-25, 21:41

While I was playing Crysis 2 today (DAMNED today was the release and I wanna continue it so badly) I smelt a burning smell, shortly after that BAM, my Power Supply died.
This means I might not be online for the next few days (Fuuuuuuuuuu...). But maybe I'm in luck and get a new one tomorrow. Very Happy

It's weird because if power supplies overheat they usually shut down automaticlly...

Crysis 2 works maxed out with 55+ fps for me, no problems with anything. (proud)

I can't remember the System Specs, but Crysis 2 is running fine on Hardcore settings with an average of 35 ~ 40 FPS (Seriously, why needing more than that?)

The PSU was a LC Power LC6420, worked fine for a year or 2.

I don't have a XBox and I already got the game for PC. SO why the fuck should I pay even more money? Console freak...

Might be almost the same, but maybe a bit better. Can't really tell, my father is the pro in hardware stuff. I'm just a pro in software stuff lol.

Nope, since it's a custom PC we already put the PSU out of the case and tested it, no signs of life in it anymore.

Well, not in my case, luckily. I would hate replacing the graphics card, might cost way more than for the PSU.
Anyway i'm off to bed now, and I dunno when I might be able to answer on this again. So cya and wish me luck for getting a new PSU quick.

    Quote for truth :p

    LC Power LC6420,

That's your problem, right there Razz

Never buy cheap/unbranded/non-popular power supplies, (OCZ/Corsair/Hiper/XFX/akasa/coolermaster/Antec are good brands).

If you let me know what your specs are, I'll recommend you one Smile

I never been asking for a recommendation ffs.

I'll just get the same one and thats the end of the story. I mean it worked fine for a long time. Now stop it please.

The Humans eye has around 30 fps, so if a game runs above 30 fps it is smooth enough. (Well i atleast read that somewhere a while ago, can't really remember where though)

    Need i make a statement? :p

Anyways, I was only going to recommend you one as I've seen countless times people getting ripped off by the salesperson in their local PC shop.

Had to cache it since the real site has died.

    60fps - 120fps is also much better ;p.

    Bookmarked!

Also, not the mention that in some games (specifically Call of Duty is the worst for it), the higher FPS you have, the higher you can jump.
