i was wandering seeing as there is a horrible amount of griefing on the orc statue would i be able to use my 50x50 zone to claim and protect it

Honeypots = insta-ban. Can't get much better protection than that.

Orc can save himself if he wants. Honeypot blocks imo would kill two birds with one stone; Griefers would be busted and the statue would be protected.

If I wanted it zoned, I would zone it myself I claimed it by making sorry beat you there D:
