Math Question

I've seen this so many time online now and want to know whether people are actually this depressingly stupid.

Do not POST the answer nor the explanation why something is right or wrong. Also do not use ANY calculators of any kind nor look at the current results before voting. That is just lame.

I just looked it up, and just saying, without the parenthasis, the problem is done ENRIELEY different.

parenthesis are not necessary TMM. Order of operations implies them here.

Anyways ten votes are enough. 7.5 was, ofcourse, the correct answer making 40% of the voters suck at basic elementary school math. The "trick" here is the before mentioned order of operations. Multiplication/division ALWAYS go before addition/substraction. So:

10 + 40 x 0 - 5 / 2 = ?
10 + (40 x 0) - (5 / 2) = ?
10 + 0 - 2.5 = ?
? = 7.5

'Cept you happened not to use BODMAS in the poll.

Why should I? Just because it isn't mentioned doesn't mean that it isn't one of the basic rules of math.
