Internet Censorship, goes further. Empty Internet Censorship, goes further.

    Post by StodgY 2011-06-25, 05:07

Hey, just want u to notify. This is fucking sick =\.

    First of all this:

Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA)

The [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] was introduced in September 2010, but did not become law.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The proposed Act would have allowed the U.S. Attorney General to bring an [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] action against an infringing domain name in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and seek an order requesting [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
If granted, such an order would compel the registrar of the domain name
in question to suspend operation of, and may lock, the domain name.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The U.S. Justice Department would maintain two publicly available lists of domain names.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The first list would contain domain names against which the Attorney
General has obtained injunctions. The second list would contain domains
    alleged
by the Justice Department to be infringing, but against which no action
had been taken. Any service provider who willingly took steps to block
access to sites on this second list would immune from prosecution under
    the bill.

    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------

The first denied law was that US could block domains. The difference is
with this law is that The United States can block certain sites and
shutting it down for all other countries. Every site these people don't
find legal can be blocked. Including Youtube. If a lot of people claim
about copyrights on youtube it could be shutdown. In theory, although
with this site it won't work because everyone would rage.

A lot of sites will still be able to be surfed to but IF this law was approved it would have meant the end of torrenting sites.

Now they came with something new which is to be proposed in France and in England:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------

I'm sure a lot of people here use torrent sites and I want you to notify of these chances. I found it fucking lame. It also had benefits, like child porn can be pwned right away. Also, yes, if any of these laws will be accepted 4chan will finally die.

Anyway I support a site which has been listed under this line. It's has 300,000+ members and it's growing and a fast rate. If you think this is not large and you don't want to become a part of this BECAUSE of that reason, screw you. If your not interested, fine but signing something because it doesn't matter is just bullcrap. You can sign this stuff in 90 sec...

If you want to support the fight againts these internet censorship laws go to: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

You only have to fill in a sort of list. With your name, country and e-mail adress. I can verify your e-mail will ONLY be used to get you updated of the lastest news of censorship and link you to sign more of these things if another law is being proposed.

Basically. While it's a fine, fine line between stopping illegal practices and full out censorship of dissenting voices... I'm not that worried. People seem to forget that the governments of the world are bureaucratic clusterfucks where nothing ever gets done.

Well, the whole point in this new thing is that if you have internet and use it for downloading illegal stuff with torrents after 3 times your PROVIDER has to shut down your internet. If first get a warning. After that your bandwidth is getting lowered.

Than the final act againts illigal stuff is you can't receive any internet whatsoever.

Also meaning that no other provider would like to provide you with internet if they know of this fact. Luckily this one is less worse than the previous one. If the previous one did get accepted it would mean 4chan and ALL torrent sites or sites that have only a little bit of illigal stuff going on will be blocked.

This "law" has been setup in America but that law goes so far that they can't just only block the site but shut it down for EVERY country in the world.

I honestly think these people won't stop until they have everything in the world is censored...

Unfortunately some politicians who design and argue for these kind of bills are against file sharing in general because they cant differentiate between legal file sharing and illegal file sharing.

So these kind of bills will cause torrent sites, that are useful for sharing your own stuff, open source programs and people wanting to just share stuff with the world to be shut down. The kind of people who will be affected the worst in my opinion are those who cant compete with the large corporates that own sites like Itunes, etc, that just want to share there material with everyone out there. Torrents provide a way for their material to get out there to everyone. Unfortunately torrents major use is for illegal file sharing. However, if a single CD didn't cost $30 dollars and movies didn't cost so bloody much I would happily pay for the majority of the entertainment I enjoy.

16 bit encryption, 32 bit encryption, 64 ,128... Green Damn, Civil law in place by Glider law suit, Dual Layer Protection, DRM, Region Locking, etc etc etc All stuffz to prevent theft.

Why you no allow my theft acquired movies??

The sky isn't falling and this bill won't stop torrents. People hosting free software and legal torrents often seed via their own medium anyway for followers to download. Getting your free movie shared via torrent isn't hard to distribute. This bill is only going to cause these websites to evolve into something else that will take 2 years of government red tape to take down.

In addition, if torrent sites are taken down there is no doubt there will be many lawsuit appeals hindering their ability to swing this bill around.

You wouldn't down load TNT on orcworm would you?
