well my minecraft is crashing due to 'run out of memory' every like 2 minutes but it only seems to be happening in 1.8.1. it used to only crash occasionly but its getting hard to play now as i crash all the time. Any ideas

Try closing out any things you aren't using in task manager.

Allocate more ram, try allocating half of your total ram, that should do it. And if you're not already, use Optifine.

Mike, Optifine uses MORE memory,
It makes my game go from "Run out of memory!!11!" every 5 to 6 hours to every 2 hours.

Pray that the coding fixes that notch is saying are being done for 1.9 are memory leak fixes as well.

also if you are using Matmos sound mod i would get rid of that because when i use that i "run out of memory" all the time with out it i never have.
