Opinion != Fact, xspider30. Why do you think there are so many damn different styles? Just because you can apparently only enjoy one particularly type of music doesn't invalidate 5000 years of history.

I can probably give you facts as to why half your playlist sucks, xspider. I can assure you, you can probably say bad stuff about 2-4 of my songs, but sincerely, real music is real music, and that crap you listen to will never even be near it.

I don't agree with the Eminem part, why can't he rap? I mean, people like it and his lyrics are pretty good. (btw I hate rap) Everybody has different tastes. For example, people like Ke$ha's music, and there's no talent in that.

I listen to mainly electronic based music (dubstep, DnB, techno, hardstyle, trance, etc.) but occasionally i listen to metal, B.o.B, and alternative.

He'll yeah, Linkin Park. That was the iconic group when I was in high school. If you like them, listen to Limp Bizkit too. They did a hash of the Mission Impossible theme, too, made it Urban and a little grungy.

Well, it goes in Punk-Rock and Metal.

im a big fan of power metal such as Symhpony X, Helloween,Edguy and others. one complaint i have with this thread is people saying they like metal, or rock, specifiy more ot the sub-genres such as powermetal, death metal, rock and roll, progressive rock, and such. however orcworm i have to agree with you, dream theater(progressive rock) is good although i am sad their drummer(Mike Portny) left for Avenged Sevenfold

As stated previously, I listen to, literally, everything. Currently however I've been focusing on Symphonic Metal, New Age, and 80's Classic Rock.

I have trouble calling them progressive metal especialy when bands like Symphony X are also Progrssive/Power Metal. Symphony X is heavier than DT by alot.
sometimes i wish all the subgeneras were specified a little more than they are.
