    Hello,

My name is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and you may know me as that gigantic asshole that is always raging about shitty written posts. This is because people who can't even speak their own native language make me [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and frankly concerned about the future of our civilization. I usually tell them to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], reasoning that if you can't take the time to write a decent post, you aren't worth listening to in the first place.

But anyways... My various hobbies include watching television, from science fiction like Primeval, Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1/Atlantis and Fringe, to cartoons like Wakfu, Avatar: TLA and Adventure Time, to anime, like FLCL, Baccano and Nanoha. I also tend to read a lot, with favorites including the A Song of Ice and Fire-series by George R.R. Martin, The Hitchhiker's Guide... by Douglas Adams and recently Leviathan/Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld. Of course, being the massive nerd I am, I also tend to read (web)comics and manga such as Gunnerkrigg Court, Homestuck, Negima and One Piece.

To earn money I'm currently in my last couple of weeks of a study Computer Engineering at the HAN in Arnhem, the Netherlands specializing, as much as that is possible, in microcontroller programming. An interesting project I had was the fabrication of a tricopter, which had a particular will of it's own to try to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on several occasions.

In-game you'll most likely see me god-moding and teleporting around to see all the wonders and horrors of the world and generally being always happy to help and/or kick and/or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] people. Not that I actually enjoy this last action.

On the forum I'll always be, as mentioned before, quick to point out any seriously bad writing by native speakers. I'll also tend to come on a lot to stupid sexy PetePorty. Do not be alarmed by this ladies, for although Pete may be a flaming homosexual, I am always available to look and offer constructive criticism to your homemade nude pictures.

As I have currently run out of witty bantering and slightly amusing pictures I'll cut this post a bit short. If you have any questions to ask me: go right ahead.

B-? What is this on the way more logical 1-10 scale? If it's lower than an 8 then I fear you may find some.... problems in the near future.

B- is a range of 80-83. "B" is 84-86, "B+" is 87-89. (A scale is similar, wheras a straight 100 would be "A++".) Though I seem to have forgotten you have a Sheldon-like knack for failing to detect sarcasm. I was merely busting your balls and did not think so low of your introduction. All in all I found it entertaining.

Edit: My apologies, you asked 1-10 scale. B- would be a range of 8 - 8.3

The edit really wasn't necessary. I learned a long, long time ago how to divide by ten. Also I know you were trying to pull a joke, but I really didn't know what the 1-10 scale equivalent of a B- was. Blame Europe (or at least the Netherlands) addiction for the metric system and it's lovely 10-based way of life.

I'm quite fond of metric system and would support any change toward it here in America. Unfortunately I also know too many thick-skilled Americans would have a reaction akin to "Zomg! It makes too much sense! My brain will explode!", so I'm a closet metric user.

The letter scale is actually based on the percentage grading system, which IS used in the US. 70+ is considered passing in Grade school, generally differs in colleges. "C" scale is 70-79, etc. 69 and below is simply "F".

What should I imagine a percentage based grading system is? All questions on a test are worth as much and thus as long as you get 60% of them right (no matter if you got all the hard questions wrong) you pass? Seems kinda dumb, so I doubt that could be it.

The way it works here is that everything is point-based with every question having a separate point value. So a easy question ("Give Einstein's formula on special relativity") may be worth only one point, while a slightly more fiendish one ("Determine the volume of this six sided pond") may be worth 3. Then your grade is a simple (points earned/maximum amount of points)*10. I always assumed this was the way all schools/colleges/universities worked since it seems the most fair. Imagine my surprise that there are other schools of thought.

Works pretty much like that. We multiply by 100 rather than 10 to find the percentage. ("Percent" does, after all, mean "Per one hundred") Value of questions is determined by difficulty, calculated similarly to the way you related. Say out of a maximum of 50 points you earned 45.

45 / 50 = .90, or 90% of your maximum allotted points. Thus your grade on that assignment is 90. (Letter scale it would be an A-)

113 correct out of 150 points nets a grade of 75. (113/150=.753333, rounded to nearest .01. Letter grade C)

Got it? Same system, different terminology.

There ARE lazy teachers who assign the same point value to all questions. You can guess how well their students fare after their class. They deserve to have their accredidations revoked.
