New Frostside Rail Empty New Frostside Rail

    Post by Galwail 2011-04-28, 07:30

Sooo ... how does the rail network work?

I have tried to use the New Frostside rail, but I failed badly Sad I came to the New Orcshire station and hit the "Call cart" button. Nothing happened, so i placed my minecart on the obsidian block and hit the start button. That worked and the loooong ride begun. Don't get me wrong, the railroad is EPIC, but those few above ground parts are many times more interesting than bellow ground parts.

The funny thing happened, when I arrived to the Frostside. There is some chest on the end of railroad, that stole my minecart and teleported me back to Orcshire on that first obsidian block Shocked

That's a glitch. The chest is supposed to take the Cart, but you should not have been teleported to spawn. Jarvis, could you look into this? My knowledge of Minecart Mania is at "newb" level.

obsidian block is only to stop and start the minecard if you want to spawn a minecard use a diamondblock

    Launcher Blocks

Launcher Blocks (Powered Obsidian by default) will launch a stationary minecart. These can be constantly powered by a redstone torch, which is useful to instantly launch carts that are spawned out of a chest. Since pressure plate as tracks have been removed, you can no longer rely on this setup to launch occupied minecarts and halt empty ones. Use either [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] signs or buttons wired to the launcher block which players can press once they're in the minecart

Note that since the arrival momentum of a cart arriving at a launcher is saved, the minecart needs at least some arrival momentum in order to be able to take off from a launcher with a velocity > 0.

See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for Launcher Block examples.

    Spawn Blocks

Spawn blocks will create a new minecart on the trail above it when activated. This do not need an attached chest to work. They spawn only standard minecarts, but can use a [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to change what types of minecarts will be spawned.

See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for Spawn Block examples.

I tried to use the railway from New Orcshire to New Frostside as well.

The 'Call a Cart' button did not work for me either, and seeing as how I don't have a plot or anything in New Orcshire, I couldn't place a cart on the track (because I didn't have permission for the zone). So, I walked along the track a ways until I could place a cart, placed it, had to chase it down, got in it as it started going backwards, and stopped back on the obsidian block at the station. There, I hit the start button and was on my way.

One long and uneventful ride later, I arrived at New Frostside. At least, I think it was New Frostside, because when I got there, my cart rode into a chest at a turnaround in the track and disappeared. I was standing on the ground at the stopping point for a bit, and then suddenly I was back where I'd placed my cart in New Orcshire, short of both my minecart and my destination. Oh well, I guess I can always /tp there... Not as fun as the carts, though. =\

If you re-read what he said, he WAS able to push the button. (To Launch) The problem was no cart arrived when he called it; I've noticed this too. But not being in the zone meant he ALSO could not PLACE HIS OWN CART on the track.

Yes, this is what I meant, Rulyon. Thanks. I wrote it weirdly, made it hard to read. Razz

I didn't think of it before, since no message popped up, but maybe the button is actually zoned, for some reason showed the animation when I clicked it, but wasn't actually clicked (and therefore no cart was called)? That would mean that for some people (like the person who placed the button, or anyone with permission to modify the station), a cart would be called when the button is pushed. No idea if it actually will, but it seems logical.

Um the problem is someone before you most likely just called a cart and destroyed it. Anyhow works now, though I need to fix it up abit as it won't take carts back in.

Edit: This problem seems to be occuring to all the old cart callers, (the chests won't take carts), when I have time I will fix this, but this really won't effect the cart calling feature.
