I was just wondering if anyone else thinks it would be cool to have an actual currency. I know Gil is our "currency" but i was thinking something more like paper or gold ingots. Just a suggestion to think about.

It would be shit. I have thought that we should get a mod that can convert an ingot into 100 coins, and that you can have up to 255k coins stacked, but sincerely, it's a pain in the ass.

Meh. I like Pete's idea and also agree that tho we would have a "Currency" it would also be an
Item to make extra chests for. :O maybe for a RP server? Actually nvm that. Ahhh screw the whole thing.

Re: New Currency.
It would be better to introduce something like that with a fresh map, whatever item we would choose someone would already have hordes of.

I like the idea that Gil is covered with some real ressources. So in case of inflation it's still at least worth the ressources you can convert them too .

Re: New Currency.
these are all pretty bad ideas lol, the main reason i do not like hard currency is that trading becomes more tedius than farming the materials yourself, converting resources to currency then going to the person for the trade, it really just hinders the play experience and slows the game down. and lets be honest minecraft is slow a damn enough already :-p

Re: New Currency.
A "virtual money" like we have now is perfect for fast trading, it just should be officially covered with some real ressources, then it's perfect.
Gold Coins or similar would be a bit unhandy - I mean for private transactions ok, but shops and auctions need Gil.

Re: New Currency.
I prefer virtual, having items would be a pain, having to go access your gold and again and again whenever need be, and say if you were pvp'd and lost all your money? That'd be completely different to dieing and loosing 1% of your Gil like now.
