Well i've been looking around after a few allnighters and have noticed alot of abandoned buildings everywhere, and one especially that i have monitored that the guys tore down my skyway to build has been abandoned for quite some time now. Like a month or so. So I was Wondering Orc If its ok to ripit apart/claim it for own to build with/through.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
so yeah there it is. So Can I has it?
+ If this is a semi good idea Orc, Can me and Gornemant gets permission to tear down clearly abandoned bases?

If someone made it, it's theirs forever. They always have a chance to come back. If anything, Orcworm could extend the server if the need for more building space arises.

As long as it's okay with the admins, I guess I can't do anything about it. As long as it's not MY place on the chopping block. Cool

Yeah i'm kinda the same way. I just think it would save server space. That and official revenge would be awesome.

It is hard to say whats abandoned and whats not. I have kinda abandoned the subway and railway atm, should we just tear it down? Lets put up a sign and wait a few days, if nothing happens I guess we can just remove the whole railway.

It has not been a month, not even close. Server opened in late december, it is no yet late january, and that structure wasnt there on the first day. Nor on the second.

However, if someone griefed you and then built ontop of what they griefed, then thats a ban for the grief alone in which case their contract with Orcworm-smp becomes null and void.

If they don't 'sign' their work then technically it could be considered abandoned.

Hm you both bring up good points. And Film, Jarvisd Said that you said the whole post a sign thingy. And Yeah I guess that would be a way of saying it orc. I build the skyway over a half finished castle but it had noone in it for the while and i just built over the top of it placing a lift from it to the half build base and called it a night. When I returned in the morning the skyway was gone upto halfway point between my castle and the (I guess) Now claimed castle. I messed around until someone got on that was in the castle, talked to him - Ranchit- and he said the other guys tore it down for the hell of it. I never really reported it since it might;ve been claimed before i built the skyway but nevertheless it pissed me off that they didn;t at least post a sign asking about it. But now its an eyesore with most of the chests missing. It had nobody in it since I talked to Ranchit which has been about 15 or so days. (EX: they haven't been on since 27 of dec) So Yeah, I guess the whole signing process wouldbe good but there would be too many disputes over how far that sign claims and stuffs. Anyways when the server full comes back online and stuffs someone said to get an official inactivity date.

my house is signed like this:

    owner:
    x32jsf
    last visit
    dd.mm.yyy

the ababdoned (+griefed)structures are not nice and ruining the game... OR convert then to m.cobble Very Happy Very Happy they will look like ancient builds

we need somebody with exlusive rank to clean up the map. someone with griefing habbits!

Yeah, I was thinking of ways to help out this server when X brought up Comm Projects when i was bored. Governant Brought up the shit builds when I was ranting about that castle. So Yeah. I like the Ancient Structures idea, cept its still a massive structure. Oh BTW doesn't the excessive use of Fire break some rules? The castle has wood in the ground lit on fire all around the castle, so Yeah.

I've already extended the border twice for things like that, it isn't practical because it will make saves take that extra while longer, and they're too long already.

Curious as to how bad would it be to set up a system to catalog bases? Or at least abandoned bases. Screen caps -> The many mods out there doing a check for inactivity -> Random Admin scanning through confirms -> Permission to Janitor/Demo Person to Nuke the sucker(Not with TnT Just a Metaphor) Or Regardless making a position of Janitors just for this purpose. Just an Idea.

Hm, I'm not sure if that'd really be necessary, and it would require effort on my part, lol. I usually check the age of builds by doing /cinfo on any chests inside the structure, those that have been locked two or more weeks ago are nigh guaranteed to be abandoned.

Well I think someone that likes killing time/exploring/wandering aimlessly, should be given mod like(moddish?) status for this job. They then go around to each building that seems abandoned and place a sigh or 2 that cannot be destroyed stating what time they visited and if anyone wants to keep that building they have 10 days to post that they still live there and want to keep it. Maybe even make a new section just for this actually... The person in charge of this job would of course have to keep track of all this information somehow, maybe a long post with all the areas and their coordinates.
