Pretty good rig, sure it's a Mac, but I personally like them better (and I use CS5/Final Cut so I like their power).

Possibly upgrading this summer.
It'll be a 27" iMac 2011, 4 or 6 core CPU (no idea on speed yet), 16 GB RAM, 1GB (min) VRAM, 2Tb HDD.

But I'm happy with my current rig

Things to remember from my three computer builds.

Order of Installation:
Processor to Motherboard
Heatsink on Processor
Put motherboard inside case.
Put HDD's in case
CD/DVD Burner in case
Install Memory
Hook cables up to HDD's and CD/DVD Burners
Install Graphics Card
Install PSU - Cables included
Attatch ALL cables on motherboard (on/off, HDD light, reset, etc)

TEST THE SYSTEM WHILE PANEL IS STILL OFF!

If it runs, great. If it doesn't, troubleshoot.

I don't know if i should start a new thread for this, but is it possible to build a decent desktop PC for around 400-500 USD?

If you have $800 and are really smart, you can get one like mine.

PSU - Dire, good luck getting anything more than a 460 on it in the future, OCing will be out of the question too.
Mobo - I suspect limited OCing due to restricted BIOS and total lack of heatsinks around the socket (For MOSFETs etc), 1 PCI-E = No future proofing, mATX is ugly.
CPU - Would've gone with the 750 / 760, but that's just me.
GPU - Fine.
Optical - Fine.
RAM - Total waste of money, a 9-9-9-24 1600mhz stick is a 9-9-9-24 1600mhz stick, the more expensive ones just have a flashy heatsink on them.
HDD - Could get an F3 1TB for same cost.
OS - Paying for it = Bad.

Just being honest .

Some of those where "none optional".. So I had to like "choose" them..

And OS, I have ultimate on this, my latptop and the other laptop (w7 of course), and all are illegal.
