The Map Reset

This is final and there is no debating;
The map WILL be reset when Minecraft is fully released (approximately 18th November 2011)

Because some of you have issues taking in basic information, I have created this topic.

Why is the map being reset?
The main reason for the map being reset is because the current map will be incompatible with the full Minecraft release.

Will I keep my money or creations
No, nothing will be transferred to the new map, apart from the money donators received for donating.

Can I pay for my creations to be transferred?
We are currently considering this, however if we do go ahead, it's likely it'll cost £1 per 10x10 moved*
*Blocks excluded are high-value- aka chests containing items, iron/diamond/lapis blocks etc. We reserve the right to decide if we want to transfer your creation or not.

Can I have access to the map to create my town early?
No, this would be unfair

I have donated for "Super pickaxe", will I receive that straight away?
No, it would be very unfair if we allowed this, and therefore we are waiting 28 days before giving /spa

Will I receive the gil I got from donating?
Yes

Can I have a plot in the new spawn?
Yes. These will be sold for gil and will be available after 1 week.

Will I still keep my rank?
Yes, your rank will be transferred to the next map.

Will I keep my inventory?
No, haven't you got the idea yet? You keep nothing but your rank.

Do you need any staff for the new map?
Currently, no.

Will donators get their 50x50 zones, etc?
Yes

Will I be able to download the current map for use in singleplayer after the reset?
Yes

11th of November was planned, true, but due to Minecon the release of Minecraft has been moved to the 18th.


Also remaking Acheron will be a hell of a job, transfering with money would be too expensive I believe (1 GBP per 10x10 block. Acheron is 300 blocks which would be 30 GBP, I don't really wanna pay 30 GBP for that).

I do not think we are going to redo major cities, but if you want to make your little city again go for it

I might not be able to use /spa for 28 days but for fairness' sake.

I know that you are not going to do the major city thing again. But I have nothing else to do as a loner in Minecraft, I just have to manage a city.

Just to mention for you guys, which is really informative for you "major" city creators/managers:

The Warp-plots will cost approximately 10k for underground warp, and 30-40k for the once at the ground level (just outside spawn tower)


so my suggestion is, start collect items and earn cash really fast

Hopefully builds above ground only, but if neccessary we can go from skylevel to bedrock.

Maybe if you are going to continue with major cities create new ones as it would gie others a chance to councel a city. And with Acheron maybe not transferr it to the new map and leave it as it is. The most I say you could do to that is change the councilers but they have dedicated most of there time on the server to it. It would be unfair to remove it.

its the same as a normal plot, but the plot is used for warps (tp runes)

I can't tell if you're trying to be serious with that or not, but forumotion is in no way linked to what I choose to publish on my website. Hell, they're not even on the same server, about 7000 miles away from each other.

In regards to the actual question, I don't see what purpose there would be behind generating the static map the day before the server is wiped and said map is actually used seeing as the only chunks to look at would be the spawn.

I expect to remove a decent chunk of plugins along with this reset, there's a reason weaker specced servers are able to hold more players with less lag... >_>

The map:

I can't speak for the wishes of the original poster of the "see the map early" request, but here's my view.

A fair chunk of people would like specific landscape features for their future buildings, Being able to see the map a day before will allow them to see the terrain and build around it, planning any linking roads for cities, and that kind of thing.

I don't see any harm in switching which map is there, as it doesn't hold info on the ores and the such, it can't help people get an advantage in mining. The only item of value it would display would be pumpkins, and due to the seed changes in 1.9, having them early will be no advantage.


I quite fancy the idea of seeing the map early, but if not, It just means i'll be spending my first day exploring to find the right place to build

Can I remind people donating for major cities to be transferred - the plots will be removed and just the outline and basic structures will be transferred.

Post from last night but am copying it over so it's easier for all to see:

Donator Gil will be managed tomorrow, not an urgent issue at the moment IMO. Rardical / Giygas / Rocker, PM me once you have a suitable area chosen for your transfer and I'll move it over.

Donator plots can be issued from this time next week to give everyone an equal chance of getting a decent spot of land.

Superpickaxe will be given at this time next month.

And to those questioning the lag - 30 people running in different directions across unexplored chunks is likely to do that. Once the chunks have been explored it's much less stressful on the server to reload them.

As usual, any problems or errors you find in plugins, please forward to me via PM - bear in mind we are running a beta bukkit build with outdated plugins, it's likely there will be quite a few problems.

Those who have donated over £15: Please PM me Paypal transaction ID or any other information that will help me confirm your donation amount. I understand this is a nuisance but I need to be 100% sure on everyone.

Probably some whitelisting / downtime tonight to give me some time to paste the larger transfers on, rardical's was fine with 10 on but acheron + abydos is a different story.
