My grandparents were from Prague. :-) I'm half Czech. I wish I knew more of the language, though. My grandparents never taught it to their children. They had ten children, and speaking Czech was the only way they could have a private conversation at home. So my mother, aunts and uncles, and all future generations are missing that dear part of our heritage. I know SOME Czech, but only what I can learn from a Czech tourist guide. Like at a restaurant "czai, prosim!*" is "tea, please!".

I make slap-yo-mama good Kolaches, though. May not know the language, but Memaw taught me how to cook!

i live near border and im hungarian, who lives in slovak republik. So i can speek slovak, hungarian, and english... aaand i understand czech. but we speak only hungarian at home and with my friends

You're a very lucky person, PureCraft. My Memaw promised to start teaching me Czech when I graduated from school, but she died during my last year.
