Gnomey, Nikolas6n and I had properties side by side in your settlement. We'd developed a friendship and built connections from between our houses. He was banned today for grieving someone's property. I discovered after this that there are a number of missing items from my chest. I can't call it griefing because he was welcome there, I just trusted the wrong person.

Anyway, my question is this: can I claim his plot of land for my own and expand my structure on it? At the very least I'd like to see if my stuff is in his chests.

If neither of the two respond you're free to take the land after 1-2 days, more than enough time for them to do something.

does this apply to people who were banned a while ago?

Anyone who is banned has 1-2 days to do something about it, then their goods are free-for-all, yes.

He was banned 27 hours ago. I claim his home and stuff. (hopefully some of mine is still in there...)
