Re: Prepare to have your minds blown
I found the kids attempting to analyse the video in the comments more interesting .

Could anyone fall for this?
I'm pretty certain that perpetual motion is impossible. So don't let anyone convince you otherwise

Well... Why not? It does use a force, namely, gravity... And the friction is probably minor, it must be a very smooth thing... So why not?

Yeah, that didn't happen. Pay attention to the supports, the construction is impossible, and water doesn't flow AGAINST gravity. Somebody is just very clever with editing software.

Re: Prepare to have your minds blown
It's a trick of perspective, kinda like that other Escher statue (moebius square-thingy, don't know what to call it). Perpetual motion is impossible since you will always lose more energy (due to friction and heat) than you could regenerate. If it was possible to create such an infinite energy device from a box of scraps in your mother's garage, don't you think governments would stop wasting money on terrible inefficient solar/wind/nuclear power plants?

Re: Prepare to have your minds blown
Precisely. By theory, only in absolute vacuum is there a lack of friction, and absolute vacuum doesn't exist. Never even in outter space there are minute particles, various types of electromagnetic radiation, and deviation due to gravimetric exertions. It may take a really long flippin' time, but eventually it'd be slowed to a stop or pulled into something by gravity.
