I'm just looking for a general knowledge of dedicated servers. (No this isn't something else I'm trying to copy off orc) How do they work, how much are they, and what are the pros/cons? If this is the wrong place to post this (maybe off-topic), then I'm sorry.

This will go off-topic in 1-2 pages 100% so you're fine, to your question: A dedicated Server (for example COD 4) is a server that runs extern the game, so if the Owner/Host leaves, it won't shut down. The dedicated server runs either on a private computer or a root (root = 24/7)
