Looking at the many problems that people are having with 1.3 servers... I think it was a good decision not to charge ahead with the update.

Orcworm runs a server with a few hundred people. We're still in Minecraft BETA. As in, Problems can and will occur. If we charge into every update, then that's just asking for headaches. Wait a week before considering updating to the next version so others can get the headaches for you.

This brought me on another idea.. I may create a poll about it.

Downgrading is easy as hell; you can even have both versions...

My 1.3 concerns: 1) Beds. Will the screw up? Or will they be okay? It would be good if Notch made it to where it just makes the player lay there until everyone is in bed. That way i will just go around and kill people in bed >=D 2) New Slabs and Map Updates. Sandstone now naturally forms at the bottom of sand banks... Stone slab, cobble slab, wood slab, and sandstone slab oh my. Another waste for stone! 3) Redstone clocks. Ever since the update(my friend's) Redstone clocks don't work as well as they used to...... 3) I like to take up space, don't you?

I assume beds will be like nether portals, they will do nothing but be decoration. Sandstone won't form for the same reason that lapis didn't. Your clocks will always be slow on a server as clocks make lagg :0

So what proof do you have that beds will mess the server up, I doubt it will, though Arbr used to say Nether portals caused lagg.. I doubt beds will do anything but replace out imaginary beds. Only one way to find out is to look on the minecraft forums for complaints and/or try a server out with them

Test on my local network server confirms that if every player logged in current is in a bed at the same time they will roll forward to dawn. If one of them succumbs to the awkward mob spawn rule, it will stop the jump there. No confirmation yet if it resumes after they kill the mob and hop back in.
