Nether Server?

Hi there.
This is mainly a message aimed to orcworm. I was wondering: How well this server is doing financially?
I see a lot of people in demand for nether materials but i know that activating the gates would cause the server to lag even more. My idea was, if there is enough money available, you could start up a nether server!
When people go through a nether portal, they leave the server and join the nether server and vise versa.
Of course that would require a script so the items are transfered from one server to the other but i think it would expand the server and add a lot of posibilites. You could also then use the nether to shortcut through enormous distances on the main server!

FYI: If you didnt already know it: Walking 1 block in the nether equals around 10 blocks in the main world, so nether gates can be used to explore far away places and can act as shortcuts!

Then again, the shortcut thing would possible make people able to teleport outside of the world when they come back. Also, Orc is as rich as all the countries in Europe together, but having a server just for 3 types of blocks is a little... Ugh.

It's certainly possible, the only issue is of course the funding.

I believe the cauldrons are working now?

If so, every nether block can be made without going to nether.

Technically CraftBook still isn't working as it should, I realised as much when I found 200mb worth of CraftBook-related errors in the server log earlier. I think it's causing more harm than good at the moment.

About teleporting outside the world... is the server limited in size? If so, when you set up a gate that would lead you outside the main map, you should autmaticaly exit through a gate in spawn city or something like this...
And even though the nether is only made of 3 materials (with lava its 4) but it is the nether! A dangerous place worth exploring!
In my opinion, if this idea ever comes to live, the nether should be on highest difficulty to really make you think twice about entring through a nether gate! This way, it is really tempting to explore the nether and see if you can survive in there! Besides, people can bring materials from the main server to the nether server so it is to expect some set up a home in there!

Doesent sound THAT expensive. I would actualy do it if i would be earning money already but im still in the middle of my training. Anyway, this is just an idea and i was curious how people would react to it. Maybe some other guys might be willing to give a small ammount of money every month to make this possible.

Yeah well this all was just an idea and ill leave it to the people with money to decide if it comes true or not.
Maybe it would be a good idea to announce this idea for discussion in bigger scale.

my suggestion is not to do it, netherrack and soulsand are very rare right now and people pay a lot to get them, so the players with lots of it will lose lots of money if you open the nether now, what an admin or orcworm could do instead is maybe have a shop where it is sold

Yeah, I should really get around to setting up stores at the spawn point, the only problem is I'm not exactly up-to-date on what the general price ranges are for items these days.

no shift+4 is still dollar sign ... shift+3 is pond sign ... its the same keyboard for americans and brittish
