Personally, I think people complain about Notch's update habits way too much.

I think wolves was a nice addition to the game... Better than those redstone halting things... (yes I forgot what they're called)

To me, minecart tracks are a must have, plus weather is awesome

1.5 was a worthwhile update. My point is: 1.4 was not. :3

SOME testing before releasing a build would be nice though. Or you know... expected of an indie developer that makes as much money as Notch does.

No what I'm trying to say that some simple tests to actually see whether or not the stuff added actually works or causes major errors should be expected. Take for example the whole rail-infinite loop thing. That is so INCREDIBLY obvious that it shouldn't have even made it to the general public (us). We should not be responsible for all the testing. The 1.5_01 update breaking the utter shit out of SMP servers makes it blatantly clear that Notch does not even test his code. If it compiles, then it is released. Adding the fact that he (or Jeb, which seems more likely) had it fixed within no time at all makes it seem that this wasn't that hard to fix. Why didn't he catch (by just running a private SMP server and doing ANYTHING) and fix it when he was prepping 1.5_01 for release? Oh right! It's Beta so the players do all the actual testing and reporting. THAT mentality is exactly why I so dislike Notch.

What was this rail-infinite loop thing of which you speak? I've spent a total of 45 minutes on the server since 1.5, so I haven't encountered it.

Putting a detector rail next to a normal rail would crash the game/server. Which given what detector rails would be primarily be used for (switching tracks) is kinda dumb. A mistake like this can of course happen to the best of developers but we get this kind of shit with every. single. update. I mean just look at the version history. Please please tell me we're going back to the other map. :/ This is crap. Why would a temp map showing how douchey everyone can be when there's nothing better to do be better than people complaining about not knowing how to rollback to previous versions.

You haven't been around when we did do that Slave. Believe me that this is the better solution. At least for the staff. If you don't like the douchy behavior of some then I advice you to stay away from the server until we're back in business.

Considering the amount of time between 1.4_01 and 1.5, when the original intent of 1.5 was mostly to add achievements and stats functionality to the game (since most of it was already in it)...

I don't know, but 'weeks' still seems likely to me.

We're talking about the Bukkit guys here Wolf. They are a hell of a lot quicker than Notch and his crew.

But Bukkit is waiting on Notch.. and aren't making an update for 1.5 They even suggested people use the previous version instead because it might be a while.

I voted to revert back. The new features are sure nice and all, but they don't nearly come close to the importance of supporting Bukkit and its plugins. The Temp. map was a cespool if cold hatred and carnage because people can (and often will) be assholes in a game when they can get away with it. With the amount of people you have coming onto this server, it will always turn out a similar way with every new temporary map.
