Idea for a RP scenario Potentially In-game

Ok then so I used to play on this server for a little bit and it was a lot of fun to play on but due certain circumstances it was... put on hold. I think that if we pull together we can replicate this again to some degree.

The concept is the is a high and almighty douche bag who runs and owns everything from the money to the food, there is no place for food to grow and only the guy who calls himself tyrant can grow food from seeds, There are no trees only desert and you have to survive on your own, don't eat for a period of time and you will die. The only way to acquire even the most basic of needs is to hunt the cacti and breaking them for a small chance to get wood.

There is a lot to explain but just read what the thread said and it's a brilliant thing that was sadly put to rest. The rp focus is fairly moderate but it makes up for that with the other perks that it brought along with it.

It sounds like fun, but might it not be difficult to put into play? With a mod it would work, but this would probably inflict with others =/

Well it would need a server in on it's own but Orc is kinda reluctant to shell out the money for another live server atm but it could work with a hefty amount of plugins though. It's just something I wish could happen though.

Yeah, I have it for 3 years. Thing is, it's a 4 slot.

Why do you even have a 4 slot VPS? You could host that at home like the cool kids

I got it from a company who messed up their pricing scheme, they fixed it before anyone else had a chance to grab one, or atleast as far as I'm aware.

In all seriousness anything new we would do will have to wait for stable 1.6 plugins being updated and such and even then we need to wait longer due to the specialist plugins that will be needed for this to happen.

Haha, yeah that could take some time. But it seems many people are very busy at the moment for the last month or so? So i don't see it being too much of a problem when you look at it like that?

Right now with a combination of updates and stuff going on irl for most people related to exams and work but in a few weeks most things will pick up again and stuff can be done again because more people will have time for server related stuff. So for now all we can do is throw around ideas and the like.

Ive thought about learning java for that very reason... but I kinda figured that anything I would make would horrifically do... horrifying... horror stuff... or something.

I plan to begin learning it over the summer, emphasis on plan.

Aaaand back on topic Orc do you reckon it's possible to set this map up and run it alongside the main one on the single server you have?

Not really, seeing as the plugins would be shared across.

Permissions are per wOrld, if you're talkingd about a multiple world thing

so unless another server is bought for just specifically this type of map then it has no foundations for which it could be brought up then?

Either that or by running two seperate minecraft servers on one physical server. I don't think the CPU would be too happy with that ;p.

What if the RP plugins had multiworld support? If I understand what that means, shouldnt it be possible to have the plugins only work on one particular world?

Though having 3, eventually 4 (Dreamworld/Aether/Something) worlds running off of a single server at this point is asking for trouble until Notch optimizes SMP.

The server can barely run two worlds, nevermind more. I'm eager to see how much 1.6.6 changes things though.
