Has Orcworm gone soft?

I have been playing on orcworm for quite some time now and when i first joined orcworm was hardcore ,as soon as you stepped out of spawn you were fighting for youre life and everyone was your enemy. You had a band of maybe 3 players and you would build a bedrock base together and always be worried of being found.Now you get people saying that they are going to get you banned for killing them or saying you want to work with them then killing them. Is this whats is happening?

I have heard a lot about lack of pvp, and there has been a reduction. I have no idea why people don't pvp as much, I have been here awhile too and I think part of it is you cannot camp spawn exits anymore it is a no pvp area.

Last time I checked no-one has been banned for killing someone, though there have certainly been many threads about killing, mostly by whiny kids.

Maybe because that plugin isn't installed? Something that 1/7 of your money goes to the one who killed you because when that was still on the server it was like PvP war lol.

I can think of two additional driving factors that makes pvp less common.

The first is the surge in Donator population. Every time a Donator killed someone in PVP it opened them up to accusations of command abuse. Rather than expose themselves to that, they just abstain.

Secondly, multiple population areas that are PvP free zones. Coupled with a lack of the PvP plugins that we used to have (the battle zones, kill tracker, Gil rewards, etc) makes PvP
A) More difficult to seek out
&
B) Less rewarding.

In other words, not worth the time and effort.

Personally, for me, I stopped PvPing when the PvP Stat tracker stopped updating. That was the main source of motivation for me to PvP, to actually see the competition for kills and k/d ratio. After that went down, I've only killed 1 person, someone griefing in front of me. Although this may not apply to all people who PvP, it may have mattered to the small amount of people who had records on this site. http://erik.bernhoff.no/top10.php Which could have caused more of a lack of motivation for seeking out people to kill.

Pleeeease don't bring back the "lose 1% of your gil" bullshit. I've just started to love pvp'ing as it's no longer a high-risk, low-reward practice for me.

I'd REALLY hate to lose 2 diamond blocks' worth of gil just because of a pvp scenario gone wrong, especially since I'd only earn like 5 or so gil for killing peeps.

I personally blame the zones EVERYWHERE with PvP disabled to be the reason why no one pvps. If those were gone, it'd be a lot more fun. :/

I know exactly what it is. The 'new' rules listed at the top of the forums. Stating you cant kill people in their homes near their /home or within 16 blocks around their home. That's why.. It's too complicated and the rules are too easy to break there when pvping. Cause you don't want to bother to make sure you're not near anyones house or whatever.

Also.. yes the whole tp killing bitchfits that happen.

Because as of right now, if someone steals from an unlocked chest, it's allowed anyway.

But if they didn't grief or abuse commands to get inside, lwc or not, stealing from the chest is impossible anyway. How does removing LWC change anything?

You could have secure chests by blocking them, removing lwc would give the higher chance of a successful raid since most people leave their places open but with locked chests.

Making LWC for Donators only has to be the dumbest shit I have ever read around here and that's saying something. It's like you people think that the whole server revolves around an elite club of people with money too spend. Hint: It doesn't. As we're a _public_ server we should ALWAYS put the gameplay experience of Guests/Members above any Donators. If Guests/Members don't want to play here because we institutionally give them the finger since they haven't paid then what is the point of being public?

I said the donator+ lwc only since I knew EVERYONE would have a bitchfit if NO ONE had LWC. Personally, I'd rather there were no LWC at all.

My reasoning: it's hardly fun to raid towns/steal/kill everyone when eveeryone has LWC'd EVERYTHING. Besides, people can still protect their stuff WITHOUT LWC if they aren't ass stupid. Further, it would help clean up the fugly dirt huts with chests/furnaces in em. All in all, it's not really hurting anyone as people can still protect themselves in other ways WITHOUT the need for lwc. People just have to use their brains to protect themselves from harm.

The next proposition I'd like to address is on donator zones. Now, I'm fine with donator zones as anti-grief (although it sucks being unable to steal from zoned chests, but I shan't ask for TOO much) but it really isn't fun when every city a donator has is PvE/PvP free. I'd be fine with only the major cities being PvE/PvP-free (although that would ruin the fun of raiding major cities; again, begger's can't be choosers) but at the VERY LEAST, I ask for non-major cities to allow pvp/pve.

My final proposition is having a /home and/or a /spawn warmup period. It's quite difficult to pvp ANYONE with full diamond armor and countless food items in and of itself; it just gets stupid when they can /home or /spawn with no reprocussions whatsoever for doing these commands in the heat of battle. I say this particularly since one can bind commands using improved chat and doesn't even have to type the full /home or /spawn. For example, one can bind /home as the h key. That's it. That takes less than a second to type.

Those are my ideas to make pvp much less of a headache and a LOT more fun.

I think that removing lwc would basically plunge the server into anarchy as no one could trust one another to not steal their shit. Why would people gather resources when they could just steal them from other people?
