Princess Mononoke by Studio Ghibli. Not really something a fan of that *ahum* masterpiece called Bleach would like.

I could probably do with some food and water, even air, but those are all minor.

About Bleach, I DID like it, TBH, but after episode ~40, I was like... "meh" and I quitted... It was just more of the same, specially after being forced to watch Naruto, and I was tired as shit of guys holding swords.

This SO much. Bleach started off so incredibly well, but after the Soul Society-arc it feels like your watching reruns because the same goddamn thing keeps happening. Not to mention the tons and tons and tons of underdevelopment (if any development at all) characters that just seem to disapear no matter how useful they are. And of course Ichigo's complete fighting style that seems to consist of nothing more than uselessly spamming his black wavy shit and then pulling yet another upgrade out of his ass to completely dominate his opponent with a GIANT black wavy shit. And go watch Bakuman or read it, seeing as the anime is ongoing and sucks compared to the manga, goes for most anime's. Anime is to attract more ppl to manga, there are few animes that can compare to the mangas' art and story development

Anime isnt a genre, it's just a word for japanese cartoon, so saying you hate everything is a bit generalizing. You just haven't seen something you personally like. Now I can perfectly understand you don't like Shonen (One Piece, Bleach, Naruto) since its really aimed 8-12 year olds. And with almost 90% off all new shows being disgusting large eyed cute-girls-doing-cute-things ("Moe") crap I too would think that all anime is garbage. But try too look farther. Studio Ghibli's (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) and Mamoru Hosoda's (The Girl who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars) are all AMAZING films being easily on par with the pre-CGI Disney movies. For series you could take a look at some stuff by Gainax (FLCL, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Gurren-Lagann, Gunbuster/Diebuster. But be sure to avoid Evangelion since it's VASTLY overrated) or the ever popular Death Note. If weird comedy is more your style you cant really go wrong with Gintama or, and this is a personal favourite of mine, Pani Poni Dash.

As for the before mentioned Bakuman. DEFINITELY read it instead of watching it. While the anime expands on the manga-making part (which is great) it unfortunately also expands on the romance part of the series. Which is by far the weakest part of the story.

But whatever you do, please, please, please don't stream anime or read manga online. Sure it's convenient but you lose so much of the details thanks to codecs and crap. Just torrent it (tokyotosho.info) or download it (mangatraders.com)

Also this has got to be THE most retarded reason not to watch/read something I have ever heard. Both series have plenty of faults but this isn't really one of them. Tell me, do you refuse to watch Dragonball Z/Kai too because of the theme naming?

As far as recommendations go:

Manga:
The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer - your typical "chosen ones who must project the earth"-story with a twist. The heroine has a terminal illness and will die when the big bad is defeated. So she takes it up herself to destroy the earth because she doesn't want to leave it behind. VERY likable characters, actually surprising plot twists and AWESOME battles. This should be a must-read for EVERYONE.
Yotsubato&! - Cute wacky little girl being wacky. Yeah, thats all their is to the plot. If you don't like this, YOU DON'T HAVE A HEART.
Vinland Saga - It's a manga about fucking vikings. Nuff said. Although tbh it went really downhill lately.
Bakuman - Already mentioned. It's a manga in Shonen Jump (a famous magazine) about manga writers writing manga in Shonen Jump and the troubles they find in trying to write a popular manga. Very meta, might not be a good starting point, but entertaining none the less.

Anime:
One Piece - It's about a bunch of good hearted pirates travelling the seas, having adventures and beating up bad guys and shit. The most consistently good show of the Big Three but the weird art may put you off. I would recommend reading the manga over watching the anime because catching up would take a while.
Death Note - A way too smart guy finds a notebook which he can use too kill people. He proceeds on a crusade too kill off all criminals while evading the police and a way too smart detective.
FLCL - Only 6 episodes but they are all made of win and awesome. Has THE best soundtrack I have ever had the pleasure to hear. The story can be a bit difficult too follow (the show is WEIRD) but giant shotgun wielding hand-shaped robots make up a lot. Also features bass guitars being effectively used as melee weapons.
Baccano - Watch this series in English since the Japanese voices don't really do it justice. It's set during the prohibition era in the US and futures a cast of extremely likable characters that are either gangsters, idiotic criminals, explosion experts or just batshit insane. I can't really describe it all that well without giving too much away. Just watch it.

Also technically not anime (it's French) but Wakfu is another great animated series you may be interested in watching. Likable characters (seeing a pattern here) that for once are not invincible in a search for one boys parent to supposedly save the world. Finding it in good quality though is a major pain in the ass so if you want links, just give a shout.

There's some gems in anime, but I'd say the majority of it pretty shitey. The quality of the animation, narrative, illustration, all abysmal. It's why everyone draws it, if you can draw a shovel and some eyes you're all set to pollute deviantArt. I haven't seen any anime that wasn't trash made after the 90's

Not a big fan of anime, especially Naruto. The only anime I have ever watched is a show called Bobobobobo, about a guy with killer nostril hairs.
