Posting this before it's too late, I suggest you all download the new, updated launcher:

This new launcher supports optional updates, rather than forced ones. I cannot see us moving forward to 1.3 immediately following the update, there are just too many things that need updating / fixing on our end, I'm sure you'd prefer functionality over a test map with a new bed block. I expect I'll next update when BigBrother is ready, seems we can't manage without it.

If you are getting:

Outdated Server Error

That means you are using the wrong client version.

Why?

As I can only update the server to new versions of MC when all/most of our Mods can be updated, we tend to have phases now and then where we are running an older version of MC. As Notch obfuscates all his coding, this can take days, depending on the update and the availability of devs to port the Mods.

Download MC 1.2

If you were clever, you would not have auto-updated your client. Luckily, there is a simple solution.

The MC client that currently works on the server is the same client you have been using until the latest MC update, you can download it once again here, or use your own archived version.

Install

On Windows:

1) Hit the Start button.

2) Write %AppData%\.minecraft\bin in the white search box, this takes you to the MC folder.

3) There you will see a file named minecraft.jar and a file named "version".

4) Overwrite the minecraft.jar there with the version you've just downloaded from the link above.

Done! You can now run Minecraft as normal, do not double-click the .jar there, that is not the way to start MC, just use the shortcut you had, on your desktop for example.

To let your client auto-update again simply delete the "version" file as shown above, then start MC.

orc all i get is

Updating minecraft

done loading

but the loading bar doesnt make it all the way and its just stopped. It's doing this after downgrading mc

I'll upload my minecraft.jar, proven to work (by me). Try now.

Edit: Probably won't work since I realised I've stacked tons of mods into the .jar, lemme' find a vanilla one.

Edit (2): Link fixed. If your client is still freezing, open minecraft.jar using WinRAR / 7zip and delete the META-INF folder.

You overwrite the minecraft.jar file with the one I posted above, the one you have is 1.3, the one available to download here is 1.2.

I can start and play with the new launcher on 1.2.02 but only offline the new launcher can't connect to minecraft.net =(

with the old launcher i can start the game but it update automatic to 1.3 but i can login and play -.-

I can get on the server no problem.

Using the old launcher, let it update, then downloaded the vanilla MC jar file and replaced the new one in the .Minecraft folder with it.
Launch, and its golden!

** Note **
Notch changed the way the game saves local maps, so I'm assuming if you load one of your saves on the new version, it will update it, and the old version will not be able to read it.

can you upload your version.datei ?? C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\version

so if i can change the number to the new number on 1.3 the launcher don't update so i hope and i can start the game :p

or open it with a textEditor anch copy the number

alright. so i deleted the version file in the bin folder and put the other one, it didnt do anything. did i replace the wrong file or something?
