Is that why just under 10% of the World Population are active on it?

So? A lot of people were active on MySpace, it wasn't good; a lot of people fought on the WW2, it wasn't good. Just because a lot of people do something it doesn't make it good, mate.

WW2 was good for the US, they came into a war they had nothing to do with and killed several people, and then everyone thought they were the good guys. Again, your point?

WWI was better as it resulted in a massive debt owed to the United States from Britian and France, as during 1914-1917, the US wasn't in it, just selling war supplys... So WWI got them out of debt and to a point of power. SO WW1 > WWII. WWII started the cold war :\

The Cold War created the MAD-doctrine. I'm very, very grateful for that since it should assure we never actually go the way of Fallout. Besides that you could hardly call it a war.

You can't compare Facebook or MySpace to the likes of a war. People voluntarily use Facebook, those who fought in wars didn't have as much choice.

Dude, I know, I'm not defending the war or anything; I agree with you, but why not call it a war? There were people fighting over nonsense and trying to make themselves superior to the other party, and both parties happened to be countries... AFAIK, that's a war... I might be wrong though, in case I am, please enlighten me, master, for I don't like having wrong definitions.

Meh Japan was intrested in controling the whole pacific, so they decided to take out Pearl Harbor to weaken the Us fleet. I think they wanted the philipenes, (I can't remember if we still had ownership at that time).

Re: From the bowels of the Admin-forum
For those that have no idea wtf this topic is about:
This is what happens when Yarwood derails a thread with the comment "So, I've had a pretty good idea which may just be as popular as facebook, who wants to invest?"
Someone merge this post with the OP. I dont have edit-rights in this subfora. Also yes, I apparently suck balls at splitting topics. Blame lack of sleep.

Pete, this not the first time I've seen you declare that America stuck our noses into someone else's business with WWII. What do Chileans know about a war they weren't involved with? Granted maybe as a nation y'all know, but perhaps with your age you haven't studied the history of WWII very extensively. Wars across the world have been an academic interest of mine for over a decade, with a special interest in WWII, the American Revolution, and the American Civil War. My sources are not only American history books, but also those kept in Britain, Russia, Japan, Sweden, and Turkey.
Kids and their epic fail knowledge of history. I shall set all of you straight.
First off, remember that the USA and England were already allies. Allied nations tend to HELP EACH OTHER OUT in war. So when England became involved we were pretty much from the start destined to become involved. The only question was "when?"
WWII had TWO theaters, the European theater waged by most countries involved and the Pacific theater, MOSTLY waged by the navies of the USA and Japan. Hitler had a diplomatic success early on in that he managed to win the support of Japan. Knowing the USA's contributions to WWI and desiring for us to NOT get involved in WWII he mostly concentrated on Europe.
The citizenry of the USA did NOT want to get involved in WWII. The hardships brought on by WWI was fresh in their memories and they demanded a policy of isolationism. It's over there, let it STAY over there. And we WOULD have if Hitler had not convinced Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. He was aware of the growing sense of outrage in the general US populace directed towards his actions in Europe and was concerned that we would come to the military aid of our ALLIES. And we did, but not in the form of military action at first. Foodstuffs, weapons, etc were being shipped to England and Europe to aid in the war effort. We were helping our allies in the barest way possible, and remaining isolated.
Then Japan attacked Pearl Harbor killing hundreds of US sailors without provocation. Have you ever read Japan's own history books? The Admiral in charge of the Japanese fleet said to a subordinate "I fear all we succeeded in doing was awakening a sleeping giant." He was damn sure right about that. If that wasn't bad enough German U-Boats also began sinking civilian US merchant ships caring goods to Europe. Were we going to accept our people being killed like this and continue to "stay out of it"? Hells-the-fuck-NO! kill our citizenry, attack our people, and we will stick a size 15 boot up your metaphorical ass.
Say "thank you" for that too, by the way. American soldier comprised the bulk of the forces responsible for liberating Europe from Hitler. Want us to stay out of your war? Then don't bring the war to us. Because we damn well aren't afraid to bring it back to you with interest.
Can I get a "Hell, yeah!" from my fellow Americans?
I invite continued discussion and input from all others on the subject.

Well, they did teach me both these "theaters" as you call them a separate wars; so yeah, there comes the confusion. I still don't know why you would call the two wars as the same, considering the countries fighting were different and the place of the fight was another one too.
"Oh well", as I tend to say; I guess you can have this argument, since I haven't studied the WW2 for a decade as you have.

Re: From the bowels of the Admin-forum
They were seperate theaters but within the same war, as the entire reason Japan attacked the USA in the first place was under Hitler's request. His intention was for our navy to be rendered crippled by a suprise attack and therefore be unable to wage naval warfare in the Atlantic to defend our merchant ships or make naval landings. We all know how well that turned out...Normandy Beach, anyone?
His strategy could have been successful but for two fortunate occurances on the day of Pearl Harbor:
1) Three US Carriers were out to sea in training excercises during the attack. They were, as a result, unharmed by the torpedos or kamakaze pilots.
2) The Japanese, for some reason or another, failed to attack the submarine yards and the submarines themselves. These likewise remained un-molested.
So the Naval capabilities of the USA may have been set back, but not entirely crippled as was the intended result.

I've always maintained that Pearl Harbour and the destruction of HMS Repulse and Prince of Wales a few days later was actually beneficial to the allied Naval effort, in that in really hit the nails in the coffin for the Dreadnought. After December allied Battleships took a second line role, and consider none were lost in battle thereafter. On the other hand the Japanese failed to learn the lesson and it culminated in the loss of several capital ships in Leyte Gulf due to planning that would have been excellent in World War I but was horribly obsolete at the present. By the end of the War only Nagato remained afloat and in a very poor condition.
