* New pixelated Minecraft logo (no longer 3D blocks)
* Added tameable wolves (Only found in Forests/Taiga, rare, Also wolves can spawn in every difficulity)
* Added Cookies
* Sleeping in a bed now resets your spawn position
* Holding shift while climbing will hang on to the ladder
* Spiders will no longer trample crops
* Lots and lots of infrastructure for Statistics lists and Achievements
* Sheep spawn in more colors. (Confirmed: Brown, Pink)
* Movement in flowing water is slower.
* Flowers and Mushrooms are more common. (unconfirmed)
* Mushroom can be found in trees and on sand
Bugfixes:
* Zombies and Spiders now hurt you in all instances (previously could only hurt you if they were 1 block above your location)
New Bugs:
* Beds do not always work as a spawn point.
* You can place Cactuses on every block as long as it's under water.

Well i see you have a vanilla 1.4 up, but i just found an excellent forum post on bukkit that might help you out orc.

I just put that on my server, and now all those pesky users and abusers have left me alone =P
Granted they dont get the 1.4 goodies, but they do get to keep playing and working on their stuffs.
That way you can update when most of the plugins have been updated.
