Erm, Frostside DID have the idea first. We didn't know that when creating the flags for the cities for our town hall though.

You should maybe come up with colors first that way you can get an idea of the image afterwards.
I'm thinking something obviously dark.. but not too cliche like a skull?

A skull is indeed an excellent example of "too cliche". Besides that, it would be difficult to portray in a 5X3 pixel art limited to 15 colors.

Doing a pickaxe actually makes it seem like manual work was done on it.

Blue- Ice around the City.
Green- The vegetation that fights for life in the zone.
White- Snow.

1,3 and 7: The dragon/ monster head entrance to the underground. Also a whole dragon. Beehotches love whole dragons.
2 and 4: Minimalist symbolism of the citys layout, 2 from the side, 4 from the top
5 and 6: Pickaxes, sorry for stealing fillers Idea, I felt purple would suit the underground and Ecco City better.
