What is the timer set to now anyway? 2 minutes? Somewhere along the lines of 10 minutes would be better imo

Kicked for idling
This timer is simply too short. Tabbing out to post/read forums leaves you kicked when you tab back, losing chat log etc.

I don't think a five minute timer is short at all...

All I can say is: thank GOD Staff are whitelisted. This would just irk me if I were affected. :3

Re: Kicked for idling
Why is it even in place, it's not like we are hitting player cap, are we? 5 minutes is surprisingly short, if you dont believe me just try demoting yourself and check it out

Can we remove this whitelisting? I think it's rather unnecessary to keep AFK staff online. It only causes annoyance for players and fuels the claims that Staff ignores them. 5 minutes is a bit on the short side (I would that 7.5 is just the right time) but it's not like logging back in takes a lot of time.

No thankyou, as staff we must check the forums a lot, as that is where the majority of problems occur, therefore we may be afk, checking for complaints and handling them.

Re: Kicked for idling
And can we Staff not just log back in? As I said it's not that time consuming. And let's be honest here. If there is something on the forum that needs >5 minutes than you can be damned sure that it's not something where you have to simultaneously (not) pay attention on the server. It just sound like laziness to me but if you can give me a good example where you would NEED to be logged in when you aren't paying attention then I'll happily retract the suggestion.

Re: Kicked for idling
10 minutes makes more sense to me, as that is how long a night lasts. When I build my large woolen ponies etc I usually take a break during night and do something else until day. Pweeease?
Also, what annoys me most about this isn't having to constantly log back in, although that is quite annoying as well. It's more that I lose the chat backlog, which I tend to skim through after beeing tabbed out for a little while.

Re: Kicked for idling
I'm not sure about Teresa (iPhone-fail?) but if I had to go out on a limb it's to A) give Staff less people to check up on and see if they aren't filthy griefers and B) to reduces lag a bit. Less people connected == less stuff for the server to do. Sure the effect is negligible but all tiny bits help.
As for losing the chat log... I know you people like your Improved Chat but if you want to hold an actual conversation then get each others Skype/Steam/MSN or just hold it on the forum. We get that having to lose the in-game chat is annoying but it's a game people, not a social networking tool.

((Holy shit, gamerg is right, i give out +'s way to much >.< stop having such good post all the dam time!))
anyway, ya, please extend the timer to at least 8-12 minutes. would make things so much better. (Although i dont really like the thing at all ((Because i like to idle at my mob grinder every now and then.)) its like skog said, its not like we are hitting the player cap or anything.)
EDIT @Filler: ok, those are pretty good reasons to have it >.> but as for the chat log, so much shit goes down in the chat when im afk, and i really enjoy seeing it .---.

Re: Kicked for idling
The way the server is set up with plugins and such, it is actually a game with an economy and a market. Being able to tab out for 5-10 minutes and skim through to see what people are buying and selling can be handy. Just because you dont want it, doesn't mean it's useless for everyone else.
Also, would doubling the idle timer really increase the staff workload that much? I can't see the reasoning for a 5 minute timer.

I do sometimes read threads and not reply, there's no need to repeat everything 10 times over.

thats just it, its you who has the final decision on these things, so if you dont post, theres no way for us to know if we are getting anywhere with our ideas D: if you dont say no, yet dont say yes, it leaves us to wonder, and by human nature, we are going to repeat what we said and hope this time we get a 'yes' or a 'no'

Re: Kicked for idling
Hey, I check the forums lots Pete! lol.
But I do tend to throw MC onto my spare monitor and read the chat from time to time. (When its working ^^)
I like how Staff are whitelisted (please dont change this Orc), but I do agree that the idle kick should be increased to 7.5 at the least, 12 at the most (day/night cylce)

I still don't see how Staff should be treated specially with regards to AFK-ness (or at all) but whatever the majority wants...

It's because your not cool enough to hang w/ Patrick and SpoonMe. I mean, have you not read his ban appeal? Classic.
