yes.. iron ore is an ore... but it is common knowledge to get it in ore-form when mined underground.
Rather replace it with sponges, these are extremly useful for working with water and are always in demand.

Also, id like to request to add coal ore to the black market.

why were sponges removed in the first place? i remember buying em not too long ago.

I requested some stuff to replace the gold and iron ore a while ago. I think Orc messed up and accidentally replaced sponges instead of iron...

This deffinately needs to happen.

I think sponges were taken out due to notch's stupidity. Also, sponges only work with a plugin.

dat irrelevant gamem iirc worldguard makes them work, and you can still get em with /give and such so they can be sold.

If only orcworm had set it so that we could sell back our rare items...
