Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Bukkit isn't ready to be used by itself, it needs a lot of supporting mods, and some special add-ons for it to be even usable... But yeah...

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
As soon as CuboidPlugin (Or atleast a zoning plugin) is available I will be moving across. I was working on getting Bukkit setup correctly all yesterday, everything's pretty much ready apart from zones. I hear WorldEdit now has some sort of zone function so I will try that today.

orcworm.dyndns.org is the IP if for some reason you want to check it out.

From my research, I'd say we should wait for CuboidPlugin to get ported. WorldEdit zoning is finicky and not very powerful .

I found a converter program, seems to have worked . But yeah, region 'zoning' is pretty dodgy.

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Everything seems to be working as planned. Adding a poll to the OP and changing title.
Oh, and just to compare, we would be losing a few plugins as not everything has been ported across yet, the full list we'd have available on Bukkit is:
BackupPlugin
Redstone Circuits (Somewhat similar to the old CraftBook ICs)
Borderlands
BigBrother
Cleaner
EekRunes (Similar to Runecraft)
iConomy
iStick
Plugin that adds a chance for blue ore to drop when redstone is mined, the name eludes me at the moment.
LWC (Chest Protect basically)
MagicCarpet
Minecart Mania
/home, /sethome
PrivateWarp
Reserve List
IDSearch (No more googling item IDs )
Stargate (Not the same as the hMod version, but easier to use)
WorldEdit
WorldGuard
The main things we'd miss out on is CraftBook and the extended features of Runecraft I think, overall I reckon it's a pretty good compromise.
Also worth making note that everyone will have to be re-promoted, this will take some time as I have to rewrite users.txt manually for 296 members.

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Shops and kits were things I was looking to stray away from, thanks for the suggestions though.
I tried Informant but found I'd already installed plugins that did a similar job, and LapisRedstone is the one I was after .

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
My only qualm about the switch is CuboidPlugin.
A. Mods use cuboid for zones/cuboiding.. Will we get access to WorldEdit?
B. Cuboid Zones>WorldEdit zones. Highprotect? Heal/PvP/Sanctuary/Restriction toggles?
If you need help converting the users.txt, email or PM me, I'd be willing to help rewrite/copy it .
EDIT: Is there /blastpick? If not, then could you give us //mode (for superpick)?

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
There's a seperate /region command which I've given to Mods, or I think I have anyway. I think it has most of the things you'd need, apart from the /highprotect command.

/god
/heal
/slay
/locate
/stack

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Unfortunately there's no individual /cuboid command, only /worldedit which would give access to the full suite of related commands. You will be able to fulfill your sign fascination with stacks of them now though .

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Ugh...
Just played around with the bukkit snapshot-- damn it sucks. Buggy as hell, no permissions system, little or no commands, shitty plugins... It's a steaming pile of dogshit in my eyes .
Not quite sure what to do now... I just am not quite sure if Bukkit is a good idea at this point in time . Backup the map before you try it!
So here's how to emulate CuboidPlugin with worldedit.
Add each and every command here to the "mods" group. Use whatever permission system you use (worldedit, flatfiles, permissions plugin).
//,//wand,/worldeditselect,//set,//replace,//walls,//outline,//overlay,//move,//chunk,//hpos1,//hpos2,//pos1,//pos2,//expand,//count,//distr,//cyl,//hcyl,//sphere,//hsphere,/up,//contract,//undo,//redo
Explanations:
//= PowerPick
//wand=Gives you the edit wand/allows you to use it.
/worldeditselect=ONLY allows you to select areas with the //wand.
//set=Basically /cfill.
//replace=/creplace
//walls=Instant walls. I believe their is a equivalent in Cuboid.
//outline=Can't remember, something like a hollow box tool.
//overlay=Cover an area with blocks on surface or so (snow, ice, etc).
//move=obvious
//chunk=Selects the current chunk
---Hpos, pos--
Selects areas!
//expand=expand (duh)
//count=count of blocks
//distr=show what blocks are in selected cuboid
//cyl=cylinder
//hcyl=hollow cylinder
//sphere=sphere
//hsphere=Hollow Sphere
/up=Moves you up by <number>of blocks. VERY USEFUL.
//contract=Opposite of //expand
//undo=DUH!
//redo=DUH!
ONLY give access to said commands. they are all ROUGHLY the CuboidPlugin edit commands.
//,//wand,/worldeditselect,//set,//replace,//walls,//outline,//overlay,//move,//chunk,//hpos1,//hpos2,//pos1,//pos2,//expand,//count,//distr,//cyl,//hcyl,//sphere,//hsphere,/up,//contract,//undo,//redo

When a newbie double-posts, it makes me die a little in the inside. When an old time moderator triple posts; it makes me wonder whether we should allow you to have children.

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
I don't know about this. Maybe we should wait until (or if) hmod is canceled/stops working and/or bukkit full version is out. I'm worried about the bugginess of bukkit. (However, this is coming from the view of someone who knows absolutely nothing about coding)

Just FYI, HMod IS dead, already, since Hey0 rage-quitted. Bukkit tried to update HMod and failed, and is not going to try again, therefore, Bukkit is the only way to go if you want all the new stuff.

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
Actually, with a few hours of configuring, Bukkit is pretty nice, it's completely modular so simple commands such as /home or /spawn have to be added manually.
(And looking at that poll result I should probably stop typing here and update the server)
I have that covered

Just about finished with the Bukkit transition, just remove the version file from your .minecraft folder, follow the guide at orcworm.com if you're unsure.

Re: Bukkit 1.2_02 or hMod 1.12_02?
if auctions are disabled, can guests now use warps to get everywhere? What I mean by this is, some shops are now unreachable by guests and If I want to sell my stuff, someone has to physically go to my store.
