server help?

well i recently joined to have someone answer this so that i could move on. idd like to host a server for friends but i cant figure out how to? please help me.

Vanilla? Bukkit? Canary? How many people? Renting a server?

well for at lease ten people, sorry im not sure what to expect, i use hamatchi. i run the beta version.

Solution - Stop using Hamachi.

i all ready did that dude and thats how i got that java....... prob.

and i was instructed by a youtube video for hosting servers to use notepad. also that connection problem link you sent to me said to use note pad.

You'd use notepad to create a startup script if you were using the .jar server file, but using the .exe server file doesn't require a startup script.

well im going to read that link some more. bare with me, this is hard to figure out first time around.

well i cant connect because im not local to you. i live in the u.s.a. which i dont think that would matter because its the internet. that the only explanation that their giving me.
