I found this astonishing when I logged in a little while ago. I wondered why the chat was so quiet. So I did a /who, and much to my dismay...

I feel less weird now knowing that i wasnt the only one by myself on the server at one point yesterday ...can't get on right now though

You may be waiting for a while there buddy.

downgrading is no big deal, I dunno why the mods are taking forever, maybe they don't wanna do too much work this early after an update to find that notch had another update in store.
