Mod installing issues Empty Mod installing issues

    Post by Ciphon 2011-07-20, 15:43

i've been trying to install mods on my minecraft for quite some time now, and i've enver been able to succesfully do it.
yes i have deleted the meta-inf file, gotten the correct version thing, copy and pasted ALL the files and such
im using a macintosh computer, and it seems i can open the minecraft.jar, and delete the meta-inf file, and minecraft will still work, but if i modify anything else, it will not work.
    any help would be appreciated

please no "its the mac's fault" trolling here, mods work on other macs, and for some reason dont want to for mine.

    1) Go to Applications>Utilities and open terminal.

    2) Type in the following, line by line:
    Code:
    cd ~
    mkdir mctmp
    cd mctmp
    jar xf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar

    3) Outside of terminal, copy all the files and folders into the mctmp directory.

    4) Back inside terminal, type in the following:
    Code:
    rm META-INF/MOJANG_C.*
    jar uf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar ./
    cd ..
    rm -rf mctmp

Did you do all that for the mod loader?
EDIT: Also, do you get a black screen, an error message, or it runs but the mod simply doesn't work?

Pete, I've already tried that a million times, and I've done multiple other ways of editing the minecraft.jar, such as the archive utility method, but it doesn't seem to work, and by that, I mean it blackscreens.
Edit: also, after doing the terminal commands, if I open and close minecraft and then, do the first terminal command again, and go back into the mctmp folder, the meta-inf is back, and I've even tried removing it manually (without terminal) but it comes back every time
    Any suggestions?

Oh and sorry for a long reply time, went on a short surprise camping trip

Don't get them all at once. Install 1, test MC. If it works, save that .jar and add another mod. When it stops working, you'll know which is the mod causing the conflict, and since you have a back-up, you don-t need to install the rest again.

The problem is Pete, that if I make any edits to the .jar, besides deleting the meta-inf, minecraft blackscreens, whether I try to install 1 mod, 2, 3, or any amount
