    Hello Folks.

    Firsly, DON'T PANIC!

    Secondly, do not make questions about possible map resets or anything like that. This is not the thread for that!

    This thread is however, for the sole discussion and development of possible new designs for a spawn for future Orcworm.co.uk SMP.

    We, as the Orcworm Staff, love to hear your ideas, and most of them are always considered and appreciated.

    Please come up with some goodens and we can begin work! (This does not mean that it'll speed up a map reset, (or anything like that) but it does mean, if we do require a map reset, we have a new spawn available). This is very early planning, and not even necessarily going to happen. We may keep the old spawn, but it can't harm to throw some ideas about now can it?

    If you troll/question about map resets/go off-topic i will see that you receive a punishment, because this thread is very important to Orcworm SMP!

    We could do a portion of a good city, and copy the buildings of said region, and then sell rooms in those buildings as shops, but they'd not be allowed to edit the walls, so we could keep a same design throughout the city. Anyone got an idea for a good city?

    Get rid of the spawn tower, all those stairs are horrible ... I might actually mess around on a single player world and try build a new spawn building. The actual spawn city is fine but a little bit too big.

    Maybe you misread the Op guys. We want to make a new spawn that is better, and actually has a standard for the buildings in it and has more room for shops, more like the V.2 spawn. We don't want to just remake the spawn tower <_< This thread is a reason why one should ignore the laity grint.

    Maybe like an indoor mall idea. Once you get to the bottom of the spawn tower, there's a double, possibly triple, story mall that has plenty of shop plots available.

    The mall sounds like a good plan to me that lets people be creative but contains it. The mall in Valenwyre for example is brilliant but there isnt enough stock/variance of items there so more indigidual shops would be great Very Happy

    I had a suggestion that all the buildings are exactly the same shape and size (so everything matches) but with the freedom to change the material the building is made out of.

    I also like the idea of the Acheron merger but without any of the existing buildings/shops (cos there are some that are less pretty than others)

    When im back from shopping later today (its 1am atm lol) i'll have a go at getting a few ideas drawn down for the design as well, im on my ipod atm so cant do it now and i have quite a few ides for different designs.

    As for keeping the existing spawn, im all for that too but can you get rid of the fountains, they look good but they make me lag horrifically suggesting that tgeyre a factor to the spawn lag issue

    I do like the mall idea, but on the other hand I like how spawn is now, with a large tower or something along those lines with shops and statues around it.

    I think we need a universal building design and a SQUARE SPAWN. Also, remove the long walk from the top of spawn with a nice flat spawn in the center of the square city. It could have a dutch or modern, futuristic or stone age theme. Just some ideas. Again: NO CIRCLES

    Edit: Also, I think an idea of apartment complexes lining the streets going at 1k a pop or 100 a week to rent, and market STALLS instead of shops with a general stall feel to it for 3k a stall or 200/week to rent.

    i like the current one, but i think the spawn plot builders should be given a list of certain materials they can build their shops with(to keep the same style and feel).
    however if we want an entirely different spawn......

    i hate to link other servers but, i like this because it works with the landscape(which was hand made). if we could incorporate some land into it i think that would be awesome(more than the terraces we have now.

    Squares look awful. I like the lack of straight lines and having different shaped plots just means that the builders need to get creative and original as opposed to run of the mill bland boxes.
    I think something like a village nestled in a bigass valley might be cool. Problem is it could be confusing on how to get out, unless we do what we have done for this spawn and in the spawn tower there are bridges that lead to the edges of the enclosing terrain (North, South, East and West).
    This could make spawn seem like a more natural sort of area and more like a town, and using the idea of only the inside of buildings can be changed would be nice too. Could become very unfocussed and difficult to navigate though...

    Our current spawn is amazing, the walk is adds to the experience, if you don't like it, go Donate.

    Stop complaining and give us bloody ideas!

    And a Square is probably not our best bet... Circle is probably the hardest and most effective, but i want you guys to prove that statement wrong.

    Make spawn give more of a welcoming and warm welcome.
    Instead of spawning on top you spawn on the bottom where there is a mall as uber suggested and you have to walk up and you can drop down or walk out.

    Don't ask for ideas if you don't want criticism. I gave you ideas, I'm not going to sit here and kiss up to the old design. I"m bringing in fresh looks to the thing. Circle is in no way good because of triangle and sloped cut offs. Walking down those stairs is hideously tiring and can be simplified by moving the spawn location down a few floors.

    I think the new spawn should be in a valley, with great huge waterfalls and fountains. There should be a tower in the center, and areas for different things around it. (Prepare for nerdrefrence) Like the Imperial City in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

    I did like Jar's idea about having pre set shops/w.e. Yes, it removes creativity but it'll be more pleasant and recognizable to the eye.
