my suggestion for the new world:
i see that when you die you lose lots of gil, here's what i think of this.
i agree that you should lose gill when you die, this will stop the amount of suicides to regain health, however gil is now harder to get thanks to not getting 1 a minute, im ok with this, but if you make gil hard to get and when you die you lose lots of gil, lots of people will lose gil instead of make it, and get really angry, so heres my suggestion

instead of losing a big amount of gil like 23 or 28 when you die maybe it should be a smaller amount such as 5-10, this will probably discourage people to suicide, while not making them lose lots of money when they get killed.

As you know, changes only take effect after a restart. The current home plugin is buggy and is thus being replaced with a different one.

Mobs do not have a 100% drop rate for Gil.

Uh if you lose 23 gil when you only have 500 gil and its a percentage, than that is a horrible idea. Once you have thousands of gil you're going to lose hundreds of it over a glitch death, which is like 95% of the deaths for most people in this incredibly buggy game courtesy of Notch's updates. (which usually make it more buggy, it seems)

Even for PVPing, losing all your items to someone else is enough of a discouragement so that people will avoid getting killed.

I say a max loss of 5 gil per death. Losing more than one diamond's worth per death when you have very little money is beyond ridiculous. One of the guys yesterday lost over 300 gil in like 5 minutes because his /home kept killing him.

Please read above. The default amount was 5% (I was using the old config and did not expect a feature like this would be added, thus the default % was kept on the first run of the server). I have reduced the % loss to 1%.

The only glitch death I've seen so far is through /home, and since I'm replacing the home plugin that should no longer be a problem.

Exactly, one of the biggest problems was players with 1000s upon 1000s of Gil, for the time being we're adding restrictions to stop players gaining Gil so quickly.

Lizardman has 8000 gil 12 hours after the new server is up.

    Mission....not accomplished Very Happy

Unless the idea is that moderators have tons of money and everyone else works menial jobs for them making 5 gil an hour. Which is the way the server is definitely going at the moment.

Oh, and it took me 3 months of regular playing on the old server to get to 21 000 gil. That was until the mobs starting dropping diamond blocks and destroyed the economy.

The way you made gil 2 months or so ago was fine, people didn't have that much. But now, as we can see from Lizardman's example, the problem is worse, not better.

Oh wait, did I say he had 8000 gil?

    I meant 10 500 gil.

He had 8000 gil 10 minutes ago. Now 10 500. By the time you read this, who knows how much it will be.

    11 000 gil Very Happy

He deserves a prize for getting to 11 000 gil in 11 hours on a server designed to prevent people from doing exactly that hahah.

    Really?

Because a few hours later, and he has 19 700 gil.

    He doubled his money!

He's actually making MORE than 1000 gil an hour, every single hour since the server came online. He's making closer to 2000 gil an hour.

Lizardman, Goldman Sachs would like to offer you a job. And Obama wants you as his Secretary of the Treasury. Because apparently you are the most gifted financial mind to ever grace the planet, judging by how much money you're making on the server.

Anyway, you want to tell us how you were getting so much money exactly? Exploiting a glitch?
