Now, I have one idea i've been thinking about, what about, a Venice esque city? Its abit out there, but we could reshape those lakes abit to all join up, and be abit thinner, and have a lake network around the town, I have loads of wood, so i could supply a load of boats, and I'm sure Liz could buy some..? xD

So you want the whole city to be plots built around water? Hmm interesting...

I do like the idea of water being around the town, in streams or whatever it may be... Not sure about having to access parts of the town with boats, possibly if bridges were created

Well I could supply the boats, and maybe we could have a urm, like the Paris bike system, stops to leave the boats at for someone else to then use and leave at another stop?

A Venice architecture style with water streams and canals and so on in a... desert themed city?

If I may chip in, Rendarg har a very valid point You could however have a single river running through it, as one of the main factors for settling down in desert areas is a steady water supply.

No i definatley want to keep it egyptian and desert-ish, architerctural wise it definately will be, but we need abit of originality

Smalls canals are perfectly acceptable. Just because it is desert themed doesn't mean you have to mimic the Sahara desert or Ancient Egypt.

I don't know if I'm convinced boats is a good form of transportation in a city though

With the lag happening lag every so often everyone will be running into walls breaking their boats so i'd say no =\
(unless you line the whole canal or w/e with soul sand which if i'm not mistaken, does no damage to your boat)

Ok then, I'll agree maybe boats arent the best transport idea, especially down narrow hard to navigate channels, but what about...

A whirlpool as a desert oasis centerpiece kind of thing sounds awesome.

It really should be amazingly awesome if executed properly.

Now if you could get some sort of sandstone statue rising out of the whirlpool (depending on the size of the whirlpool, of course), that could look pretty awesome as well.

*imagines a giant desert statue around whose feet swirl a torrential whirlpool which will drag you down to the murky underside of the sand*

I like that idea. Especially with soul sand sucking the victim in under the water... man, that's so cool. MAYBE, we could do that under the Anubis statue.

Yeah, orr, what about the anubis kind of, coming out of the whirlpool, or, being sucked in

Seeing as Anubis is/was associated with the journey into the afterlife/protector of the dead/mummification I don't think having him half buried in a whirlpool is very appropriate.

Hmmm yeah you could argue that.... How can we capture the side of the whole afterlife/death with the statue?

But think of the irony!

You could do a statue of Sobek instead.

Sobek would look nice, very fitting.

Half burying the Egyptian crocodile god in "mud" makes perfect sense to me. Plus, he's considered a creator god and was occasionally linked with Ra, the sun god, which continues to fit the theme of the desert city. All in all, pretty perfect for the design.

Perfect, in my opinion, Yes, Sobek sounds perfect historically wise, the way hes the creator god/nile god and linked with the sun god, very fitting for our water based desert town

So what about a really big whirlpool with a really big Sobek rising out of it in the middle of the town, and an anumis at the entrance?

I may not have the mullah, but I sure as hell will try my best to make it look just, epic.
