Holy balls is that hard to read...
Also, I only get the minecraft.jar itself, not the 1.4.jar. :S
EDIT: Filler, the doc posted in that link = dead apparently.

I am absolutely not surprised by the sheer idiocy going on in this thread. My non-existant god, how hard can it be to replace a single file?

Re: Minecraft 1.5
Damn near impossible when said file is not in the OP. :/
The OP links to a minecraft.jar, NOT a 1.4.jar.
That link you provided has a dead link to said 1.4.jar.
1.4.jar seems to be non-existent. :3

Am I supposed to already have 1.4.jar in my MC folder or no?
If so: is there anywhere I can download it or am I fucked?

Re: Minecraft 1.5
Start -> %appdata% -> .minecraft -> bin
In there is the current (1.5_01 if you've updated) version of minecraft.jar.
Replace it with the .jar in the original post, but because I'm so kind:

If it still doesn't work.. GTFO

I literally downloaded it 6 times, so that isn't the issue. :/
Guess I'll dick around and hope something magically happens.

Open %appdata%, delete the .minecraft folder
Delete your minecraft.exe
Download fresh .exe from minecraft.net/download.jsp
Let it update, whatever.
Open %appdata%, go to .minecraft -> bin
Replace minecraft.jar with the one you downloaded

Why do so many newbs use TeamViewer when you could just use Windows Live Messenger -> Request Remote Assistance

Re: Minecraft 1.5
I went through all of the steps, and now Minecraft won't open....
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!
Maybe someone can help me here... When I open my launcher, I log in as I usually would. Then it says "Updating Minecraft", and the green bar just hangs around at like 95% and says "done loading", but nothing happens. For a long time. I think I fucked up
Well, I got it to stop hanging around that screen. I just got rid of the .jar file provided in the original post, and now I'm back to 1.5.
Oh well

Let me guess... you were using the really old desktop client instead of the one that got introduced with 1.2/1.3.

Re: Minecraft 1.5
I only started minecraft in 1.3... so likely, no, not really.
My guess is due to the shitton of things I had in my MC folder (mods, tex packs, skins, etc.). Probably wrong though. :S

Those of us that have graduated from Windows to Linux don't have to put up with Live Messenger.Yarwood wrote:Why do so many newbs use TeamViewer when you could just use Windows Live Messenger -> Request Remote Assistance
Just sayin'...
Also: Bukkit recommended build for 1.5 is out, and Notch is finally finalizing the mod api (or at least the groundwork for it...)

Just noticed... Damn you Orc, too fast for me.
I will post updated dropbox links to working mod files if anyone wants.
(Should we setup a mod install forum topic, listing known working mods per version?)

An excellent idea, 4o66. I'll get one situated right now.
Since you're on-top of things, once I get the topic set up, would you mind fleshing it out?

No problem, I'll get it setup when I take my lunch break. (Small post is one thing, a new section is quite another.)
Let me know when it is ready please.
Edit:
Orcworm Wiki: I requested access, we should look at putting this info there, and using forum for requests, problems etc.
