Start -> %appdata% -> .minecraft -> bin

In there is the current (1.5_01 if you've updated) version of minecraft.jar.

Replace it with the .jar in the original post, but because I'm so kind:

Yeah. It still has Achievements, Statistics, etc.

Open %appdata%, delete the .minecraft folder
Delete your minecraft.exe

Download fresh .exe from minecraft.net/download.jsp
Let it update, whatever.

Open %appdata%, go to .minecraft -> bin
Replace minecraft.jar with the one you downloaded

If he don't get it his only chance is TeamViewer.

I went through all of the steps, and now Minecraft won't open....

Maybe someone can help me here... When I open my launcher, I log in as I usually would. Then it says "Updating Minecraft", and the green bar just hangs around at like 95% and says "done loading", but nothing happens. For a long time. I think I fucked up

Well, I got it to stop hanging around that screen. I just got rid of the .jar file provided in the original post, and now I'm back to 1.5.

Let me guess... you were using the really old desktop client instead of the one that got introduced with 1.2/1.3.

I only started minecraft in 1.3... so likely, no, not really.

My guess is due to the shitton of things I had in my MC folder (mods, tex packs, skins, etc.). Probably wrong though. :S

we need to update to 1.5.01 now. i don't like having to switch back and forth between 1.4 jar's and 1.5 jar's.

Go update our plugins for us. :3
