    I was just killed by Gnomeygnome and lost ~50 Gil and a piece of string. Alright, I can deal with that. The real problem is that I was killed whilst standing right outside my shop in Eccenotcem City.

    This was strange to me, as obviously the city is zoned and I thought that it was PvP-disabled. After all, New Frostside is certainly PvP-disabled and I believe that Abydos is as well, though I'm not sure about the others. That's not right, is it? :3

    Personally, I'd prefer if all the major cities were PvP free, since the idea of creating and maintaining a city guard would be difficult to do if we only had one major city, and with the 5 we have now... We wouldn't have enough volunteers on the server, or enough of them on at the right times for it to work. So, disabling PvP makes more sense to me.

    Now, Gnomeygnome has given me back the string and the Gil after I complained a bit, so no hard feelings there. Razz

    On a related note, who all can change the PvP settings on a zone? Only Orc, or do the leaders of the city have permissions to do it as well?

    As for Abydos we haven't decided on pvp, it may be non at all, part pvp, or all pvp.

    But i don't see the point of towns including pvp if others are not...

    I always did like the idea of all cities having to defend themselves, have city walls for protection and have alliances and such with other groups, the way things are going with some cities going none-pvp, makes it seem like that isn't going to happen, I agree with Grin, if some cities go none-pvp, other should follow suit.

    My idea was always (unsure if Orc will like this because leads to many zones) that we zone each house individually and they can choose wether they want pvp on/off and the other parts of the cities, so the streets or whatever are pvp areas?

    Which I think would lead to deserted streets and very few new visitors to towns as they will be hotspots for PvP.

    Well wouldn't this plugin mean that there would be no need for an arena, i was thining simply the whole city be the arena, with suprise raids from other pvpers and other cities being the norm, most likely not that often though.

    Or do you mean intercity pvp?

    The problem is that not everyone likes PvP, so we'd need a way to accommodate them as well. Yes, I know 'it's a PvP server!', but that doesn't mean it has to be 'all PvP, all the time'. By that logic, there shouldn't be PvP-disabled zones at all, and that would be crazy.

    I don't have any control over the matter, but if it were up to me, the major cities would not be PvP enabled. Wars between the cities would be fought at neutral battlegrounds, like a 'clan battle' in another game. This would lessen the admittedly cool idea of fighting a battle in the streets to defend the city, but it would also keep day-to-day activity going, which would reinforce the fact that the major cities are supposed to be cities, and not just Army Headquarters or something.

    At any rate, I don't want PvP in the cities. I'm perfectly happy with it on the server, but I want to be able to focus on other aspects of the game at times.

    I still like all cities having pvp on streets, but not in homes... And for obvious reasons block's shouldn't be changed/placed...

    I definitely like the faction plugin idea. That would solve more issues than it would cause imo.

    Not to mention, the pvp factions (8-bit, Wolf Clan, etc) will certainly benefit from it.

    Well, since as far as I know 8-bit doesn't exist as such anymore...

    Well obviously /lwc would still work, people could avoid any combat by going into their homes.

    + Yes i know this is going down the "Zomg but itz a pvp server!" route, but if people really strongly dislike pvp, then this isnt the server for them. I know i'm not a fan of dying and losing my things, but people would know to keep an eye out for raiders and pvpers just like any other place.

    + Wont warhub be coming back when its updated anyway for just general pvp? What a Face

    We should give the faction plugin a chance I think, I can't imagine there would be that much pvp in general to be honest but it would be fun...

    The argument itself is fine, to a point. My logic is that having the cities be PvP will make them PvP hotspots because A) People will be able to buy things from the shops to help them PvP (like food, armor, etc.), B) They will be able to step right outside a shop after gathering their newly acquired items and kill someone, possibly making a profit, C) More and more PvP'ers will go to the city to try to kill them because that's where they are vulnerable at, and then D) With all the PvP'ers around, you suddenly have a PvP hotspot. At that point, no one besides a PvP'er or exceedingly brave soul can walk in the streets without likely death.

    Of course that's rather extreme... Now, I'm not sure exactly what would happen to this server, (or any specific Minecraft server, considering the number of people), but this is what I imagine happening to an extent. :3

    Of course, if this should come to pass, then it would not be "just like any other place" anymore, at least as far as PvP is concerned.

    Then again, I'm overreacting a bit. I tend to do that. It's not really a big deal either way as long as all of the cities are consistent.

    Alright here we go:

    A) City Council-members are NOT getting access to anything besides add/removemember. This is more of a safety precaution then anything else. Changing the region's flags can SERIOUSLY fuck over the region and/or give unfair advantages such as automatic healing.
    B) Individual zones for the plots is fine with me though all plot-locations and their dimensions must obviously be determined. Doing this would however only be possible when the city construction is complete. Making regions is a huge bitch you know.
    C) We already thought about using the Factions-plugin. However since it is apparently impossible to disable the territory claiming function... No.
    D) Disallowing PVP in the cities must of course be coordinated by all the cities. It could of course only be enabled during wars. Food for thought?
