Different Language Exclusive Threads

This forum is an English only forum, and therefore, the only language allowed is English. Being an international community, we have users from all around the world, and therefore, we're allowing them to speak their native languages, in a single thread with other users. To do this, please contact [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] with the language of said thread and the names of the users who would like to participate in said topic; we won't be creating a thread for two people, since the PM function is exactly for that.


[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] you can find a link to the official German topic; it's the only topic on the forum where speaking in German is allowed, since the moderators aren't experts in said language, and therefore, most of them can't moderate it, and keeping it all in one thread will make it easier for the few moderators that know how to speak German to do so.

It would be appreciated to follow these rules, and breaking them will result on a warning; but repeating this mistake will result in further actions taken.

Hope you enjoy this new rule, and if you don't, you can as well pop out of these forum for about twenty years.

Most of them speak English, the language of bussiness. But if you make a spanish one kewl.

It wasn't my idea, but when proposed, I thought it was a great idea so that German players could speak on their thread without me having to use Google Translate, and without yelling at them either.

It's a thing of supply and demand and looking at the rather... loose attitude around here trying to regulate the different speaking, in this case german, portion of our playerbase is better than to outlaw it altogether. The whole "If you want your own language-thread then..." deal is not to look like the hypocrites we actually are.

Thing of it like the dutch drugs laws we talked about a while ago. Stamping this english-only thing into everyone's head is unfortunately not going to happen. So instead of going all Big Brother on everyone and deleting every thing we even suspect to be a different language (and recognizing it's a English forum is hard enough as is with our playerbase) we could grudgingly allow it and herd every non english-speaker into our neat and tidy concentration camp happy fun language topics.

Not really, you have the same rights as every other user, PLUS you have the privilege of speaking your language on an exclusive thread just for you guys.

The thing is, some ppl like MiniLink dont speak english very well, and sometimes they have no other choice, like Link in some of his posts, to write stuff in german and hope for others to translate. What will you do, ban him for posting a link to a new plugin/changelog/update?

No, I'd much rather have him write in English as well as he can and if that doesn't work, use a translator. Alternatively, he could post in the German thread asking someone else to post it somewhere else, or he could even PM someone he trusts to do so. Sincerely, the language most international communities speak is English, if you don't know how to speak English, don't join an international community. Also, the fact that the server is hosted in Germany has nothing to do with anything, just posting that before someone decides to bring it up.

I thought the guy spoke English pretty well actually... sure, there's a lot of things you have to guess or work around but it's hardly unreadable.
