Server Wiping and You

Okay, Lizard If Jar agrees, all three of us are making a 1337 house. I DON'T wanna be all late because I hate building by myself.And I like the bounties.

Pre or post reset? I'm not sure if I wanna form a triumvirate in the new map...

Yeah, we could definitely....start...a bounty system. Nothing like that has ever been done on the server before, I definitely wouldn't know anything about that.

Orcworm never said the reset is destined to occur within 14 days. Orcworm said he would wait until 1.4 is released to see what it brings in relation to Bukkit's stability, plugin updates, block lag...

And Lizzy is glad Orcworm has spoken here.

That being said, it's only a possibility for the map reset and is not a certain event.

Yeah, it's something I got off the top of my head. I figured it'd be the ideal solution to deal with... a certain someone (who shall not be named).

I'd like to know who stated that and where.

We're revamping the economy to prevent players from becoming grossly rich and having to actually earn their weight in gold.

Allow me to debunk anything you've heard:
Nothing but spawn city will be transferred over to the new map. Keyword being NOTHING.

My superiors and I are currently discussing the idea of the implementation of 5 major cities as was previously posted. The only city carried over is, again, Spawn City.

I'm pretty sure it was stated that all public polls are merely an idea and NOT the fate of the server. In other words: forget it ever happened.

Please reread Filler's initial post. As of now, that is to become of the server if it is reset.

Either way, let's get some more ideas/suggestions for the server, people.

Ok my suggestion is that if there's only gonna be 5 city's that they are spawned with the map (if that is at all possible) and once there's these city's I like the idea of elections

The cities, with exception of Spawn City, will not be "spawned" with the map. I'm not entirely sure what you mean with elections though.

Elections as in who would be on the city council I believe he means. Presumably by those living within the cities.

I'm not entirely sure about a democracy. We can discuss that in the private threads. It should be based on trust, not by popularity.

I Think that if we are going to elect a mayor leader person for each city that person should get a rank title. With this title they would gain the ability to zone the lots in the city to their liking. This would be nice to releive the pressure from the shoulders if the admins. I know personally that it can be a pain getting someone to zone your area.

Oh really I thought admins could zone as well. Maybe that is why I had such a hard time getting my house zoned.

please reread my posts properly ... i said on a topic that had most likely been changed ... and everytime i come on this thread i reread filers original post incase it has been edited ... please think before you post

on a different note i dont think current citties should be brought over ... i also think that people with current member+ profiles should get a starting kit with some basics to survive and make a house for themselves ... also i think that on the new server there should be a limit on how big a city is allowed because there are too many cities that just dominate everything causing a disgusting amount of gil to be sent to one person ... and when one person could buy allmost everything on the server with there gil you know that the economy if fucked

That exact issue is being discussed in Admin forums between myself, Filler, and Lizardman currently, Xephos.

This issue has been addressed first. We're debating on a system of checks and balances so that no ONE person can become too powerful.We're essentially trying to prevent the economy from being a "one player owns all" idea.

The example of someone being able to buy everthing is the dumbest one ever and is not true. Lets keep this factual. I think we should vote but using current cities? The active city list changes every week. We should let them try to build and then choose some, or elect, not choose people who have an 'active' city now.

Unfortunately it is true. If the 3 richest players banded together they could probably buy enough Gil-zones to cover the entire goddamn map.

Also if you had read the topic Lizard just linked you to, you would know exactly what we are thinking about with councils.

I said this, as we were "apparently going to reset the map for update 1.4, which is supposed to be released this week.. But we all know what Notch is like So I said within 14 days, to be safe.

Okay, just my 2 cents. Of course, like pretty much everybody, I'll be sad to lose everything, but it's be ok for me, if one could maybe download the current map or something, so I can still adore my ugly huge Creeper in Single Player.

Also, if you are already planning things like those 5 cities, why not make them each have like their own alliance of players, which can't kill each other, but get some kind of bonus if they kill one from another alliance. I think it'd be more fun to see teams of people trying to kill each other, rather than watch some lonely guy running in circles around spawn.

I agree it should be on merit, not having owned a city before. It should be fair for all, whichmeans anyone who wants a city starts out on an equal level. It would be fun and force them to make the cities look nice.

This idea is already being kicked around in some form in the admin-form. Thanks for the suggestion though.

ok well update 1.4 is here server has no commands ranks or anything right now, im guessing this will be fixed soon?

btw i heard from my friend that beta 1.4 has acheivements and wolves in it. might look at minecraftwiki for more info

I agree that if you want to "own" a city you should first have to build the entire thing, and then get it zoned. If you haven't got it zoned, you shouldn't own it, because otherwise what is stopping me from saying I own the entire server and can sell any part of it?

If you need help building your city, or zoning it, then the ownership should obviously be split between them.

Previously you had moderators like Battlekid completely abusing the system by using their mod powers to make a giant plugin wall that covers half the map (Stockade) and then say "lolz i have the biggest city which I made with 0 effort, everyone come and give me gil for something because I have mod powers." That's not good at all.

I wouldnt worry about the ecomony; i always pictured the server as Socialist anyway
