I've had the ability to decide whether I want to update or not for a long time. I'll post the link for the launcher when I get home. It's much more stable than any of the crap notch let's out. Well, not crap but you get the point.

whats fucked up is i installed the file to downgrade.. everytime i launch minecraft it fucking auto updates again and again and again and again and then when i use the new launcher... wont fucking work! orc just update the server asap and this will all go away. argh~!!!!!!

People will whine about anything and everything, I will get more whining if I update and lose half the plugins than if I don't for the time being and stay stable.

I think thats bc you keep changing your version file back to the old one.
Try updating it, then downloading the minecraft.jar file Orc has in his first few posts, and replace your 'updated' one with it.

It /should/ work.
(At least it did for me)

It's the new launcher without the bugs. I've been using it for 2 months without a problem. It doesn't auto update.

I've done every step multiple times (replacing the version and .jar files, using the new server, deleting the META-INF file) and I still get the same frozen screen where it says done loading. I honestly don't know what else to do.

Ok ignore all of the above because i got it to work thanks to Minilinks file.
